This run helped steevc burn 635.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
A nice morning after all the rain we have had lately. It was a little cool, but I do not mind that. I jogged through the village to warm up. A couple of ladies overtook me, but that is fine. When I got there I said I would volunteer for next week as it is the day before the 10k. The course was not looking too bad, but part of a tree had come down and already been chopped up to clear the path.

I had time for a quick chat with some folk. Alan is off to Latvia next week for a half. I know Jeff is currently in Namibia, but he hoped to do a parkrun there. A couple of people did the Great North Run and I am tempted to apply for that next year.

We had the usual mud patch after the first corner that I just ran through, but there was no real mud otherwise. I was not going too hard today, but tried to keep up with a few people. I was not feeling too bad. On the last lap there were a few changes in position, but I finished fairly strong in 36th place. The full results have not come through yet, but I expect there were about 100 there.

I think I was slightly slower than last week, but then I walked home and today I jogged most of it. Maybe my endurance is improving. I think I will do okay on the 10k, but I do not expect a great time. It is just a fun outing with about 1000 others.

We are draining our pool as it is unlikely to be warm enough for swimming. The cover was full of rainwater anyway. I noticed that the new 'lake' up the road has some water in the bottom now. I assume it is intended to deal with run-off when they build lots of new houses and their associated roads. I do hope they plant some trees around it.

We are off for a picnic in Bedford this afternoon, so I am glad the weather is looking good.

Enjoy your weekend and run free.

Enjoy that run and the cool weather! I'm sure enjoying the nice cooler fall temperatures here. You're a pretty good runner to put in 8K, ever since I had some military injuries I can only walk. Sadly running is no longer an option!

Sorry to hear it. I hope you can stay active and enjoy getting out. Part of my reason for running is to explore.

That would be cool. I think the GNR is almost as iconic as the London Marathon, although the 60,000 runners would probably put me off applying!

Good luck for your 10K next weekend :-)

The 10k is a lot smaller. I bet some parkruns get more people, but it makes a change to run on closed roads.

I just knew a park run post was coming from you today.

Very good run there, that route looks very nice around those lake/pond areas

You would be pleased to know that following your advice I have completed my first park run this morning.

it was amazing I have found out there are a few around town I went to my local one and it had a turnout of over 400 people. I felt I did well in the 5k.

Sadly I need to invest in a watch with built-in GPS my amazfit 5 is so inaccurate and unreliable in general it is so bad that the 5k run turned into an 8k run according to my band data so that is not good.

If you have advice on products do share your wisdom :)

Enjoy your picnic and weekend.

Well done! 400 is a good turnout. I have to say my Garmin watch is pretty good and I think it is fairly accurate. You can use a phone instead.

If you can get to other parkruns then that adds some variety. At least you can trust the times they log. If you keep it up then I am sure your time will come down. Don't forget to volunteer once in a while. I think we need to give something back.

Hope your picnic was fun!
It was cool indeed, but another lovely day with sunshine.
Let's hope it'll be similar tomorrow although it might be a little cool under those trees. I'll wrap up for sure.
See you tomorrow.

It was warm out when we had the sun, but I was feeling the chill when it clouded over. Bring layers tomorrow.
