Late morning dash

avatar

I am not working today, so I could have the luxury of a relaxed breakfast and then waiting until after the school run before I head out for a run of my own. It is quite warm today, but windy. That wind had a definite effect on my pace as I headed towards Stotfold. When I turned around it got a lot easier.

Route

I was very happy with my overall pace. I would like to be doing that regularly, but it is mostly just a matter of going for it and not taking it easy. It is all too tempting to go with what is comfortable, but I think that means I do not get stronger. I was certainly well worn out by the time I finished.

I stopped for a selfie on the way back where I look a bit stressed, but it was not so bad really. I was trying to capture the petrol station sign behind me, but you cannot read it. Prices are well up lately with unleaded at about £1.60 per litre. It is a good thing I do not need to drive much.

Selfie

I saw a few other runners out there, so some people are able to run at that time. I know a lot go out early before work. Now the days are longer you have more chance to get out when it is light and the weather has not been too bad. I ran one short stretch where it has been muddy lately, but that was mostly dried up. I suspect parkrun tomorrow will still have some mud though. I have not been for a few weeks, so I want to do it again. I may try running on several consecutive days and see how that goes.

Run free and stay well.

I was going to ask if you stopped running because I didn't see an #exhaust post yesterday. It's both nice and encouraging to see someone of your age putting in this much energy to keeping fit.

I was out yesterday and so no time to run. Age is just a number :)

Okay. Well, I'd say yes to that statement if we are talking about the range of 20 to late 50s. That's still okay but after that, age stops being just a number.

Ha, yes i've given back my van to work, i'm looking at the pedal assisted bikes, you won't get much change out of £1000 but it would do me for my travels at 70 miles on a single charge, i wouldn't have to have the power assist on all the time either. I'm trying to make it so i'm completely self dependent, a tall ask in todays world where obviously i'll still have to get myself to work everyday (when i continue working). In reference to your selfie, you do look quite disheveled! Almost like you're are running from some mad man, or indeed you are some mad man running!

@daniellemurray can give you advice on ebikes. Arlesey is a bit isolated, but there are tracks to some nearby towns to avoid the roads. My dad actually just got rid of his car and got an ebike, but then he lives in Bedford.

After running that far I'm entitled to look dishevelled :) Especially when I was fighting the wind. I ran past your place, but I don't expect you saw me.

No, ha. I'm going to do my best to save up enough for a campervan as i'd love Chloe to be able to come with me! I am walking a bit now, it was hard going the first few trips to the shop, but i'm slowly building up my stamina and the bottom of my spine isn't hurting so much with all the weight it has to carry.

Looks much nicer there than it does here. We got close to an inch of snow last night. I was going to just stay in bed this morning, but my wife got up to workout, so I did too. Nice job on your run!

It was nice out, but that wind made it harder. Just about to go and tend my chickens.

You got the look down pretty good! 😆 High gas prices will do that to you. lol. Got to love the wind blowing at your back when running.. makes one feel like they have a great unhindered pace going. Quite the opposite when it is blowing in your face. Enjoy the warm air!

I only drive about once per week, so I don't spend too much. It was a pretty good morning for running, but it has rained since then.
