Morning Run: Sprint!

I just finished a 5.744km running that lasted about 0hh:34mm:9ss !

I am keeping to my regular Tuesday hill sprints. It was quite cool out today, so I opted for gloves, but it was dry. The schools have finished now, so it quite pretty quiet out there, but the footpath was being dug up and so I needed to cross the road near the school.

I did my usual five sprints up the hill. The first is always longer and so harder to keep the speed up, but the others were all under 5min/km with the final one being the quickest. There were a few people walking up and down there with a couple of runners passing through. Some may wonder why this old guy keeps puffing up there, but I think it does me good.

On the way back I diverted up the hill behind us for an extra workout.

Strava uses maps from Openstreetmap, which is a project I contributed to a few years back. The idea was to create maps that are not under copyright with the need to pay for use. It seems Strava go via Mapbox who provide various services. There is the option to correct the map. It looks like various businesses have been added according to postcode which put some in the wrong place. I fixed a few of those. Some items are just out of date.

Run free and stay well!

Nice job on your run. I was indoors again today. I didn't want to get up, but I did. My wife and I went to the park this past weekend for a walk and it was a little chilly. Right around -2 C if I am reading the conversion correctly. Luckily there wasn't much of a wind so we didn't have to deal with that, but there was ice, so we had to be quite careful how fast and where we walked.

Got to be careful when it's icy. Not an issue here, but it may have felt around freezing here this morning. According to Strava's review of my year my coldest run was -6C.

Nice job..

Sometimes I really don't know what to say, your attitude towards your health is great and one to emulate.

How was it when you started?

When I started running about 8 years ago a ten minute run would leave me panting for a long time. Now I am faster and recover quicker. I have also lost some weight. I am not saying running is for everyone, but it has worked for me. I get a lot of enjoyment from it.
