Morning Run: Muddy new year parkrun

I just finished a 5.01km running that lasted about 0hh:29mm:16ss !

I managed the double of Christmas and new year parkrun this time. We did celebrate last night though with the neighbours. We were out in the summerhouse with a bonfire outside drinking, chatting and playing old songs on Spotify (mostly 80s pop, ska, punk). I had some beer and a large whisky. I was still up in time for breakfast before cycling to Letchworth parkrun. It is really warm for the time of year, but we have had some rain. There were some really muddy patches where I was worried about staying on the bike.

The sun was shining this morning and a fair few people had made it out. As expected the hill from 'carnage corner' was a mudbath. I am not sure I have seen it that bad before. It was hard to run as you were just sliding around. The field at the top of the hill was pretty bad too, but at least some of the course is on hard paths and grass. I was not looking forward to the second run up the hill, but I made it without falling over.

I overtook a few people on the second lap and managed a bit of a sprint at the end. I was not expecting a good time. I am amazed to see someone got a personal best today and there were some pretty good times considering the conditions. That was my slowest for a while.

I rode back a different way to avoid the mud. It is mostly downhill, so was not too bad. I have included the obligatory muddy legs shot as I know what my fans like. I feel okay after a shower.

Today is also Hive Power Up Day and I added to my total. I already passed 74k and will keep powering up through the year.

Run free and Hive five!

The same to you all! I am trying to start the year well and sustain that all year. Today's run was a bit of an experience :)

Have a great 2022!

Your music taste is similar to mine. Those are one of the bests. Music from the 1980s.

Happy New Year.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

I've been doing a little more cycling recently and managed a C25K session the other week. Getting into it slowly as I'm not sure whether there's any damage in my knee from the excitement of monsto knee earlier in the year. Every little helps though apparently :D. Hoping to make it all a bit more of a habit if I can go a few months without all this swollen silliness.

I have a big sore elbow at the moment but thankfully I don't use that much for running or cycling and have always been too lardy for pushups.

I'm having some issues with my back, but I hope it won't stop me getting out. It's a battle against ageing. I do some pushups to try and work the upper body a bit.

You need to stake more BEER (24 staked BEER allows you to call BEER one time per day)

I just looked up our local park run and it's pretty much all on sand. I struggle to walk on the stuff let alone jog/run!

Mud is hard work, but soft sand could be worse. I was amazed how quick some were on my run, but maybe they have better shoes. Some parkruns are notoriously hard work. The Bedford one was all on nice paths. You really cannot compare times across different courses.

I've found another 6 miles up the coast and it says it's nice and flat. Small and fast turnout by the looks of it so will have to get back up to jogging the distance before I give it a go. Don't want to be THAT guy.

I bet there will be slower people than you. Some just walk the whole way.
