Morning Run: Birds!

I just finished a 11.92km running that lasted about 1hh:8mm:25ss !

I missed parkrun yesterday as I had to go out, but I was still going to do my longer run today. It has warmed up slightly, so there was no frost. I was pondering where to go and decided to head north. As I crossed the railway bridge I saw that some work was happening on the tracks. I guess there will be no trains through Arlesey today.

I ran along part of the parkrun course and it was a little muddy up there and some other parts of the run. I generally see a few birds when I am out. I saw some swans and a few geese on the lakes and then a little further on there were hundreds of Canada geese in a field. I also saw some magpies and other birds.

I did a route across the fields from Langford that I have done a few times. It is very open there, but there was no wind and it was actually pretty nice out. I could take off my gloves after a while. As I ran back towards Henlow I saw a big bird fly up onto a fence and realised it was a peacock! There were a couple of others there. I know some people keep them as pets.

I was very consistent with my pace today at around 5:40/km. I still want to improve on that, but I also want to go further. Today my feet were a little sore and I have a few things to do, so I felt around an hour was enough.

I have a gig with the band this afternoon that I need to prepare for and also need to clean out the chickens. They have given us a few eggs recently after a long break.

Enjoy your Sunday. Run free and stay well.

Can you do it in under one hour?

I doubt it. I struggle to do under 5:00/km for any time.

I think there is always something a little magical about seeing a peacock. For me it's probably because I don't see them very often but really, any large bird is cool to see. I really like seeing Great Blue Herons especially.

I like seeing the bigger birds too. We get grey herons around here.
