Monday Sports Talk Social Quiz #3 - Win 50k SPORTS + 500k SPORTS delegation

It's that time of the week again! Forget those Monday blues, step away from Twitter and its endless click bait on transfer deadline day and come take part in the Sports Talk Social Quiz.

Screen Shot 2022-01-24 at 07.02.22.png

Last week's contest saw some familiar faces alongside some newcomers all vying for the crown of sharpest sporting mind on the Hive blockchain. One question in particular stumped absolutely everybody but kudos to those who kept trying and we did eventually get the right answer even if it wasn't quite for the correct reason.

Actually question 5 last week gave me the idea that for some of the tougher questions in the future, I may choose to give clues at set times so for example after 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, etc. and introduce a bigger prize for those who can get it earlier. Hopefully that keeps everyone engaged and guessing the answer and helps me measure the difficulty of the question. I don't want the questions so easy that it's all over in 5 minutes but I don't want them so hard that no one can get them or even worse you all just stop trying!

Here are the images with the letters covering the balls removed

@anderssinho

Get 2K SPORTS each and 1 point each on the leaderboard.

In fact, no one got the last picture right which perhaps isn't surprising given that the goalkeeper and the defenders are looking in completely the wrong direction. I was so happy when after trawling through a fair few match highlights I found that one!

Questions 2-4

  1. Bjorn Borg vs John McEnroe - @blanchy
  2. Tiger Woods vs Sergio Garcia - @adhammer
  3. Evander Holyfield vs. Riddick Bowe @ablaze

10K SPORTS and a point each for the above

Question 5

The correct answer is Golden State Warriors and so @ablaze gets the point and 10K SPORTS.

The actual sequence though was teams who have swept the NBA finals 4-0

Boston Celtics - 1959 vs Minneapolis Lakers
Milwaukee Bucks - 1971 vs Baltimore Bullets
Golden State Warriors - 1975 vs Washington Bullets
Philadelphia 76ers - 1983 vs Los Angeles Lakers
Detroit Pistons - 1989 vs Los Angeles Lakers
Houston Rockets - 1995 vs Orlando Magic
Los Angeles Lakers - 2002 vs New Jersey Nets
San Antonio Spurs - 2007 vs Cleveland Cavaliers

and finally Golden State again who beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 in 2018.

Let’s have a clue for question 3 then. Plenty of good guesses in the right ball park

Clue: it’s an Indian cricketer

5 has me stumped. I see Hertha Berlin . And a mexican jersey from the sponsor. The Stoixman used to sponsor a Greek Team but not sure. Don't have a clue what other top is , Never seen it before.

That's pretty good knowledge to work out that much from the kits alone.

Yes it's Herta Berlin, a Mexican Team and it's Cypriot team. I would say you’ll have to reverse image search them on Google to get the team names. Once you’ve got the names it’ll be easier to guess the connection…

I can bearly reverse the car nevermind images. Its just cheating. Il show one of the football nerds down in the local. Cyriot team is interesting. Father told me that the mexican team is Atlas. Fucking man knows everything.

Bro question 5, wow respect! OK I knew Atlas, Limassol and Hertha immediately but had to look into that deceiving other one and did a search by who Kappa sponsors. I wanted to avoid an image search but Hercules are so lowly ranked that there wasn't any info out there. The list of Kappa sponsored kits didn't even include them!

Anyway they're all names inspired by Greek mythology, named after Greek Gods or Goddesses:

  • Atlas - Club Atlas FC
  • Hertha - Hertha Berlin
  • Apollo - Apollon Limassol FC
  • Hercules - Hércules CF

Hertha is the corruption of an old Germanic goddess Nerthus

Nah, don't worry. I don't think most people would but I wanted to make the last question a bit trickier. I could have gone for a club like Ajax or Sparta and stuck to the whole Greek Mythology theme but that seemed too easy!

Thanks! It wasn't until I got Hercules that it all came together especially with Hertha as a Goddess as opposed to a God

Is correct! They are all clubs whose name contains the name of a god/goddess.

Congratulations
