As the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign nears its conclusion, Nigeria still has a slim chance of reaching the CAF playoff stage, even if South Africa wins its final match.

According to the latest adjusted CAF playoff table, which removes points gained against the lowest-ranked teams, Gabon (16 points) and Burkina Faso (15 points, with all their matches completed) seem to have locked down two of the four available playoff positions.
