Hey guys!

Today I start a new series in which I will try to reach 2300 rating on lichess. Currently I have 2134 although I have recently touched 2200, the thing is that I have had many ups and downs and my rating as you can appreciate is extremely volatile. So I am serious about reaching 2300 and I will be recording my games and explaining out loud the ideas of each game. I don't know how long this is going to take but it seems to me something quite interesting to practice because we chess players should set goals and this seems to me a good opportunity to keep growing.

Games played

In this game I have the white pieces and my opponent played a Sicilian defense Najdorf Variation, one of my favorite variations when I was a kid and that I sometimes use it in one game or another. My opponent decided to play the attack on the queenside quickly with b5 quite early to which I responded with a standard development of the English attack. However, Black played imprecisely and let the white knight conquer the square on c6, which of course affects them a lot and makes them look very bad positionally.

In this second game I had the black pieces and an interesting structure of the Italian opening was also presented. It is well known that in this opening there are many traps and black must be in good shape to evade all this poison. My opponent decided to play an interesting gambit, sacrificing the d4 pawn he gets a tremendous activity that helps him to create problems in the black position, however the initiative was not enough to break the formation of the black side and later I was left with a fairly strong counterplay on the kingside to which white was seriously compromised.

I hope you enjoy this new series of videos and I thank you to let me know in the comments what you think of the games. Thanks for watching the video and see you next time.

Hey @vjap55, glad to see you making the effort to improve your chess rating. Look like a great technical approach and I am sure you will get there SOONER or later :). I will be reviewing your videos when possible.

I am also looking to improve my rating to 1600s by the end of this week tournaments (but you know how volatile rating can be).

A 140 year old Scotty, said in Star Trek Relic: I can't start over with technical manuals like an eighteen year old cadet. Also I can't go back to traditional approaches like a 14 year old student :).
