Walking, history, and wellness (Eng/Esp)
English version
Squares in Venezuela are emblematic places that refer to the past, often used to commemorate historical events or figures who left significant legacies. In the city of Cumaná, Sucre state, one of these squares was rebuilt, dedicated to a hero of Cuban independence, José Martí, a figure who gave much for his country. This square dates back more than fifty years, and its sphinx had deteriorated, as had its entire structure. It was demolished in its entirety to make way for a new square with cultural significance.

It is located on Gran Mariscal Avenue, connecting Andrés Bello Avenue, Miranda Avenue, and part of Bolívar Street. The plaza was completed to a high standard. It also features the slogan that the citizens of this city have been using lately, "Sucre, I love you," which is practiced in all areas of our city, seeking to establish the sense of belonging that we so desire to achieve.

It has yet to be reopened. In the photograph, you can see a sphinx or statue that has yet to be unveiled. It is hoped that this event will take place this year, for the enjoyment of the citizens of Cumaná, as well as tourists and passersby.

My walk today took me along these paths, so I decided to share with you a little bit of history and some photos of the city at night, which often sleeps and looks different from the morning. Usually, people have already left work and are relaxing at home or doing some necessary shopping for their households.
