¡Hey! ¿Cómo están, amigos de Hiverun? Espero que todos estén muy bien. Estoy de vuelta con los 5 kilómetros; he estado en un proceso de recuperación de mi resistencia y los resultados han sido increíbles. El jueves por la tarde-noche, mi compañero @abrahamjsr y yo teníamos pensado correr, aunque se empezó a nublar y pensé que sería algo arriesgado, sobre todo para mí, que vengo saliendo de manera definitiva de la neumonía; lo menos que quiero es mojarme con la lluvia. Llegamos al parque a las 5:50 pm; mientras calentábamos, poco a poco fue anocheciendo.

Hey! How are you, Hiverun friends? I hope you are all doing well. I'm back with the 5 kilometres; I've been working on building up my stamina and the results have been incredible. On Thursday afternoon/evening, my mate @abrahamjsr and I had planned to go running, although it started to cloud over and I thought it would be a bit risky, especially for me, as I'm just getting over pneumonia; the last thing I want is to get caught in the rain. We arrived at the park at 5:50 pm; as we warmed up, it gradually got dark.

Correr de noche no es malo; al contrario, me gusta muchísimo más que en el día; ni hace tanto calor y recordemos que Venezuela tiene un clima tropical, que de un momento a otro puede hacer frío como calor. Estos últimos días ha hecho mucho calor, lo que genera más sed durante el camino corriendo. Comenzamos a correr a partir de las 6:25 pm, un poco arriesgado porque todavía seguía nublado, pero al otro lado del cielo estaba despejado, así que dejamos el miedo a un lado; cualquier cosa, si nos caía el agua, buscábamos un lugar con techado lo más rápido posible. La ruta que se hizo fue muy distinta a las demás; normalmente llego al terminal de autobuses de mi ciudad y me regreso otra vez al parque, dando en total 4.78 km.

Running at night isn't bad; on the contrary, I like it much more than during the day. It's not as hot, and let's remember that Venezuela has a tropical climate, which can be cold one moment and hot the next. It's been very hot these last few days, which makes me thirstier while running. We started running at 6:25 pm, which was a bit risky because it was still cloudy, but the other side of the sky was clear, so we put our fears aside; if it started to rain, we would find a place with a roof as quickly as possible. The route we took was very different from the others; I usually go to the bus terminal in my city and then back to the park, for a total of 4.78 km.

Pero esta vez mi compañero me comentó que hagamos otra ruta; me recomendó hacia el mercado llamado "Catania". Es una carrera recta, no hay desviación ni nada, por lo cual tal vez se nos haría algo larga, pero no fue así. El camino hacia el mercado era muy fresco; como estábamos pasando en una avenida principal, sentíamos a cada rato la brisa de los vehículos. En la carrera hubo un punto en que yo estaba corriendo más lejos que Abraham, pero no por competencia, sino porque tengo más resistencia que él. Para él, llegar a los 5 km es algo nuevo.

But this time my partner suggested we take a different route; he recommended the market called ‘Catania’. It's a straight run, with no detours or anything, so it might have seemed a bit long, but it wasn't. The road to the market was very cool; as we were running along a main avenue, we could feel the breeze from the vehicles every now and then. At one point during the run, I was running further ahead than Abraham, but not because I was competing with him, but because I have more stamina than he does. For him, reaching 5 km is something new.

Llegamos a Catania; llevábamos como 2.8 km si no mal recuerdo. Tomamos agua e incluso las fotografías de que llegamos. Estaba muy contento de correr en compañía y sobre todo de haber impulsado a mi amigo a darlo todo a pesar del cansancio. El regreso fue más rápido de lo que pensé; estaba a un ritmo que no es fácil mantener. Mis piernas estaban en automático porque no sentía ningún dolor; me concentré al 100% en mi respiración para llegar al parque. Una vez que llegué, mis últimos 800 metros, que es lo que mide exactamente el parque, me exigí más para potenciar mi velocidad. Abraham llegó mucho más atrás que yo, pero la satisfacción de haberlo logrado en compañía fue única, nueva ruta desbloqueada y, lo más importante, haber completado un poco más de 5km. Me doy cuenta de que todo es posible a pesar de una mala racha.

We arrived in Catania; we had covered about 2.8 km, if I remember correctly. We drank some water and even took photos to prove we had made it. I was very happy to be running with someone else and, above all, to have encouraged my friend to give it his all despite his fatigue. The return trip was faster than I thought; I was running at a pace that is not easy to maintain. My legs were on autopilot because I wasn't feeling any pain; I concentrated 100% on my breathing to get to the park. Once I arrived, I pushed myself harder for the last 800 metres, which is exactly the length of the park, to increase my speed. Abraham arrived much later than me, but the satisfaction of having achieved it in company was unique: a new route unlocked and, most importantly, having completed a little over 5 km. I realise that anything is possible despite a bad streak.
