Self Defense Situation - What Do You Do? - Part 31: Self Defense Against Attacking With A Bottle

Welcome back to Self Defense Situation - What Do You Do? - Part 31. In the previous post of this series, we were talking about a situation where two guys were arguing and pointing the finger. Sometimes you have the time to react and control the situation before it gets worse. And sometimes you have no choice.

When someone is arguing, getting close to you and pointing the finger at you, just be careful, he can attack you at any time. To avoid the fight, you should make the distance between you and your opponent. In case you have not read the previous post yet, you can read it now so that you do not miss anything.

Self Defense Situation - What Do You Do? - Part 30: Be Careful When The Attacker's Hands Are Close To You

There are many things you can do when someone is aggressive and about to attack you. Since you see the guy's hand close to you and pointing his finger, you can make your move grabbing his finger.

You can do outside parry and move his hand away. Now you are ready to attack him. When you see the guy is stepping forward while pointing his finger, you can grab his hand and pull him to the side. You can punch, kick, elbow strike, or do any other strike you prefer.

So how about if you are being attacked with a bottle?

Let's watch this video. This is not my video, and all video credit goes to Nick Drossos.

Source and Video Credit

You see, the guy with a red cap suddenly attacks the guy with a bottle. If you see a certain part of the body and only focus on that, you will miss if the guy attacks you from a different angle. Before attacking with the bottle, the guy takes the bottle in another hand and the way he holds the bottle, which gives a clear indication that he is going to attack.

In this situation, you can do two things. One, step in and stop his hand from attacking you. You can do outside parry while getting in and then counter-attack. For some reasons, if you cannot step in, you have to step back fast and get out of the attacking range.

When you step back, the guy might not stop there. So you can expect that he will attack you again. When he moves his hand to attack you with a bottle, his hand is on the other side. Now you can get in fast and stop him.

I don't know why some people tend to attack their opponent with bottle during a fight. Break bottle on one's head or stab with it. I find it inhumane. You're doing a great job educating the public on self defense. Learning a lot from you.

We do not expect anything like that happens to us. In case if you face any unfavorable situation and there is no way to avoid a fight, it is better to be prepared to face that. I try to share what I know and hope some of you will find it useful. And one day, it could save your life.

I'm passionate about martial arts. And I have been studying martial arts for a long time. Well, I'm not an old guy. So next 40 or 50 years I can share what I love. :)

Thank you so much @jeline for your feedback. I appreciate that!
