You can learn the sports version of martial arts that we see in a fighting competition. You can learn martial arts to stay healthy and fit. If you want to be a movie star, you might learn martial arts for that as well. In martial arts, you also learn to use martial arts weapons. Let's talk about karambit.

What is karambit anyway?

Karambit is an Indonesian curved knife and it is a small knife. So can you really use this little knife in a fight? We will talk about this later. You can call karambit as kurambik, karambol or karambiak.

Let's watch this video.

Before saying anything, I'd like to say and probably say it again, please do not try this at home.

Karambit is a small knife but it can be a dangerous weapon and it can be used for self defense. If someone has this knife and she or he knows how to use it, that can be used against attackers. You can use it as a defence and attack.

When you practice this, accuracy and speed are very important. Your movement should be accurate and to the point. First, make the movement right and later make it fast. If you are not fast enough, the opponent can move and get out of the attacking range.

So you have to consider the distance when you use this. In order to attack or defend yourself, the distance is an important factor that makes the difference. It has to be in the range you can reach. When you learn martial arts or self defense, I always recommend learning martial arts from martial arts experts.
