Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Contests, Giveaways and Raffles!

Thanks to @josephsavage to covering the contest updates while I was on vacation (of sorts). It’s good to be home and good to see we’ve got some amazing contests lined up for the weekend!

There are lots of easy to enter contests that won’t take up much time and some others that are worth a little effort. We also have a Spanish language contest to check out. Good luck!

Finish the Story

After a long hiatus, Finish the Story Contest is back! It was founded by @f3nix and is run by him and the Bananafish Paladins via the @bananafish account which now hosts the contest that runs every Friday. He posts the beginning of a story, and you finish it. Then you post your complete story for everyone to read. One of the prizes is SBI units. The important thing to know about this contest is that it's an ongoing creativity workshop, so if you miss one deadline you can participate in the next.

Paying it Forward

In the spirit of helping new Steemians, this contest focuses on curating great content and is run by @pifc. It runs weekly on Mondays and asks that you find two "High Quality Original Content Blog Posts" to recommend for curation. Four judges decide which recommendations were the best and multiple winners get SBI units. Follow @pifc to see the latest contest post and read it for full details.

Quite a few industrious Steemians run contests regularly. Here is a list of the ones we know about at the moment. All of these have been running for months so you can count on their posted schedule.

Be sure to check each account and look for the contest name as the links change each week. Also remember to read the full contest description as the rules and prize values sometimes change.

@freewritehouse

The folks over at @freewritehouse run three contests each week. All of them are designed to encourage community engagement and highlight other's work. Besides the prizes from the @freewritehouse account, they are always interested in hearing from anyone who will sponsor a contest and so they can offer even bigger prizes.

A Favorite Freewrite You Read contest runs every Tuesday for just 24 hours. You need to read some freewrites written (you can read this post to see what they are), and then comment on the contest posts about which ones you liked best and why. If they choose your comment you win units of SBI.

Recommend your Favorite Freewrite Poem is a poetry version of the Favorite Freewrite contest and it runs every Friday. Make a comment about a freewrite poem you loved and you could win SBI units. But be quick! When Friday is over, so is the contest - until the next week that is.

We-Write is a new challenge where two writers create a single story using the freewrite prompt. It runs every other Wednesday with a prize of 10 SBI divided among winners.

ZapFic Writing Contest

Like super short stories? Try writing one in 232 characters or fewer for your chance to win SBI in this contest run by @felt.buzz. Every Wednesday he posts a new prompt to use for your very short story. You can post your story wherever you want, just make sure to keep it under 232 characters.

Caption Contest

Help celebrate digital art by creating creative captions for the week’s selected picture. Read all the rules carefully to be sure your entry qualifies for the SBI prizes.

Thank you economy

Every week you can visit the Thank You Economy contest and tag someone who has helped you. When you do, both of you could win SBI units from the ever growing prize pool!

How to get on the recurring contest list

Do you run a regular contest that you’d like to see in our recurring contest section? We have some simple criteria you need to have to be included:

• SBI units must be part of the prizes given out.
• Contest needs to be running 5 weeks or 10 contests on a consistent schedule, whichever comes first.
• Meet Contest King’s no upvote, no resteem, and no follow conditions.

With VP growing steadily now, we have slowed down on our leased delegation orders and prices are already becoming more favorable without our steady pressure. That should help our sustainability multiplier to increase a bit more.

If curation rewards, base SP, and author rewards each carried 33%, then sustainability multiplier would be 100%. If you aren't already voting consistently, you can help improve your overall rewards by adding SBI accounts to your upvote list.

You can also help increase the sustainability coverage (and the rshares reward rate on regular units) by delegating to @steembasicincome.

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. If we choose to accept SBD without refunding it, you do not receive extra value for it. Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes.
