Lunchtime run: Showers, heavier later
I just finished a 6.97km running that lasted about 0hh:41mm:19.0ss !

The weather has turned distinctly wet this week. I needed my brolly (umbrella) yesterday, but nearly regretted not having it today. Not that I was going use it whilst running. Just before I was due to go out it was raining again, but I went down to the changing rooms. By the time I came out it had stopped again. I decided to just go for a run at more or less the pace I would expect to do on the 10km race. I was pretty consistent with this. The second kilometre was a little faster, but that was when another guy overtook me and I may have tried to keep up for a while. He was always going to get away from me anyway. I did the usual route around the lakes at Fairlands Valley Park and managed to keep up the pace on the uphill stretches. As I headed back it started raining fairly hard, but it had stopped by the time I reached the outdoor gym where I did a few reps after wiping water off the seats. There are some roadworks around the office that I had to dodge.
Podcast listening was No Guitar Is Safe which is an interview show where the host jams with guests. It was a guy I had never heard of, but I like hearing musicians talk. I do not speed this one up as that is not right when music is involved.
Nothing much in the way of wildlife today apart from the waterfowl on the lakes unless you count the 'youths' lurking in some of the underpasses. I did not even get any snarky remarks from them, but I am a little wary of such groups. They allow motor scooters on the cycle paths and a couple passed me at speed. I would think they need to be more careful as there are a lot of pedestrians about.
It was only 7km today overall with Endomondo getting to top speed wrong as usual. A good workout. Only 11 days to the race. I plan to do a longer run on Sunday and may do a gentle shorter run next Wednesday as my last one. I do not expect any special time this year. I still hardly believe I got 52:30 a few years back as that is a faster pace than I seem to be able to maintain now, but then my 5km time is improving. We shall see what happens in the excitement of a race with over 1000 other runners.

Sounds like it was a pretty crazy day not knowing what the weather was going to decide to do. That is great that you were still able to get out though. I've been dodging the rain as well to get my lawn mowed. I was finally able to do it the other day.
It's better today, but I have to fit in runs where I can. I don't mind the rain too much as I know there's a warm shower at the end.
What happened on the 6 km?
That was when I stopped at the outdoor gym. I took it easier on the way back after that.
