Sunday run: Blowing in the wind

I just finished a 13.111km running that lasted about 1hh:16mm:45ss !

The UK has been hit be a series of storms over the last couple of weeks. It has been blowing well for the last couple of days at least. I think we have had storms Ciara, Dennis and now Ellen. Lying in bed this morning it did not sound too inviting to go out running, but I am trying to get back into it after my cold, which is still lingering. When I got out it was not particularly cold. I headed out for my usual big loop. Whenever I had a headwind it got pretty hard to make progress. It was only when I got up the road a bit I realised I had not properly started my watch, so I did not log most of the first kilometre. I was feeling fairly good and so decided to extend the run out to Norton via the parkrun location. That meant running up the big hill, but the wind actually helped me there. It was a bit muddy with some puddles that I tried to avoid as I had my road shoes on.

I saw quite a few other runners. It is not even the same people each time I go out. You can see from parkrun that there are hundreds of runners out there. My son is going to the gym several times each week to work out and he has been running the couple of kilometres there and back.

My podcast listening was Bad Voltage (geeky stuff), BBC Inside Science, BBC News Quiz and Guardian Science Weekly. That was all at 1.5x speed.

I am trying the free trial of Strava Summit to see what I extras I could get by paying. I wonder if it does more than I can get from the Garmin Connect service for free. I was paying for Endomondo before and that seemed to give me more stats. One thing I liked is that it would show me my best times for various distances within a run. Connect says my effort was 'overreaching' this time.

There are things I would like to be doing in the garden today, but the wind may hamper some of those. I will at least clean out the chickens. Since I got back it has rained, but now the sun is out and the wind may have dropped a little.

Have a great day and run free!

You have uploaded 96 running activities, and 8 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 8 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 102.79 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:48 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.854min/km!
Looks like you went a bit slower this time! Remember that it's important to take some rest days, and do some rehab / prehab / strength and conditioning training too! If you weren't intending to go slower, take a moment to listen to your body, and see if you need something. Check in with yourself!

Stong winds are almost more scary than some of the other stuff storms can throw at you sometimes. Try to stay safe, dry, and grounded!

We get off lightly here. People on the coast or where rivers can flood suffer much more. Losing your house does not bear thinking about.
