Horses and martial arts, interesting activities and exercises. (EN-ES)
I think my taste in sports reflects who I am. I don't usually go for the usual ones, but rather those that few would think of, yet are widely practised.

Muchas veces me he imaginado en esa situación y sonrío.
I have always been passionate about horses, and many who know me are aware of this. I consistently express that if I could participate in a sport, it would be one of the most expensive in the world: horse riding.
Firstly, because this sport is practised with a horse, and secondly, in my opinion, it is very aesthetic and elegant. I have often imagined myself in that situation and smiled. If I had to say where this passion for horses comes from, I would say from my paternal grandfather José, who loved them and often went to see horse races. Also, in the countryside, my paternal family was from the countryside, there were many there.
I have seen little of that, but I did know of my grandfather's fondness for horses. He was thin and short, he really looked like a jockey, and everyone in my family tells me that I physically resemble my grandfather, especially in my facial features, although not in height.
I have only ridden a horse once, and it was the most beautiful personal experience of my life. It was on the occasion of a birthday party held in the countryside outside the city where I lived, and the owner had a horse called Indio. He asked me if I wanted to ride it, something I had never done in my life, and I said yes. I did it as if I had been riding horses all my life, and those present said, ‘You can tell he has his grandfather's blood.’ I am proud of that.
Horse riding is one of the equestrian sports. I love the style, the jumps, the elegance, the precision you need to have, as well as the discipline to practise it and harmonise with the horse. I believe that the rider must be one with the animal to achieve these tests, and that fascinates me. Although I would be happy just to gallop on horseback.
It was difficult to find an official channel about this sport, but I found a sports channel where some of the videos talk about riding lessons, and I loved it, so I'm sharing it with you. I could talk so much about horses, but we're here to talk about sports, and this is the one I would practise without hesitation.

On the other hand, my friend Claudia, my soul sister, practises Aikido. She told me that it is not a sport, but a martial art, a Japanese discipline. She is the one who knows, but I think many people in the world consider it a sport, and I wanted to talk a little bit about it, or rather about my experience and hers.
I asked her about a channel she knew, and she gave me a very good one by a Korean who practises Aikido.
My friend is a black belt and has practised this discipline for a long time, since she was a child, and she is 49 years old. Imagine, it's not just a martial art or exercise for her, it's a way of life. She also participates as a referee in many competitions and has travelled around Argentina for this purpose. She loves this discipline; it's part of her and her life.
I have had the opportunity, the valuable opportunity, to watch her practise in the classes she teaches in her city, in the aikido dojo, and it has been a privilege and a joy to see what she does. From my perspective, knowing nothing about it, I see it as a delicate, gentle martial art, almost like a dance. It is also a method of self-defence, and when I went out with her to the cinema or to eat out, I always felt safe by her side.
She used to say to me: ‘If I am attacked with a knife, I can defend myself perfectly, but with firearms it is more complicated.’ The truth is that every time I saw her practise, I loved it. I admire her very much for what she does. She is my older sister.

Ella me dio: El Tai Chi.
One day I asked her: if I decided to practise a martial art, which one would you recommend for me? She said: Tai Chi. I didn't understand why she said that at the time, but later I did. Energy management is very good in this martial art and, as well as being a great exercise that moves the whole body, it achieves balance and harmony, which she has often told me she has achieved. I also think it helps with stress and relaxation.
From what I've seen in videos, it consists of slow movements where being centred on oneself is key. I recently found this verified channel, and although it has few videos, I think it will be ideal for me. I've watched a few and loved the idea. Another important thing is that I can practise it at home and I have the discipline to do so.

I've done a lot of horseback riding , Judo and taekwando , i've tried aikido in the beginning of my burn-out but didn't work very well in combination with the anti depresive medication i had back then . maybe i'll try it again some day .
Really? That's great to hear! I love horses, I've always loved them and it's something I've been meaning to do. I'm sure I will, I don't know if I'll take up riding, but at least being with them and riding often, I'd love that. Thank you so much for your comment, I loved hearing that!
Horses are very smart animals , and just like cats they have their own way of doing things . i think the first time i was horseback riding on a pony was at the age of 5 the last time for me is almost 26 years ago i think .
Horses and cats, my two favourite animals. The only time I rode a horse was when I was 25... now I'm 47.😁
yeah i'm almost 59 now not really looking forward to jump on a horse at the moment with the scar from surgery , not to mention the sadle pain after a good ride ... 😂😂
It's best not to even try for now. The important thing is to take good care of yourself!!! Big hug!🤗
Thank you so much @stresskiller and @ecency!!🤗🤗🤗

Good morning, Amonet.
You have so many wonderful memories of your grandfather. It's great that he inspired your love of horses.
Horseback riding is a sport I'd also like to learn; as you know, I love animals. What a beautiful video.
From what you mentioned about Tai Chi, it sounds like a sport I'd love to try.
Thank you so much for sharing these videos.
Have a wonderful day.
They're not as common as football or basketball or many others, but they're beautiful. You have all the time in the world to try those things. Thank you very much!🤗
What a wonderful experience you had riding the Indian horse at that birthday party. It's great that you inherited this passion from your grandfather. Something similar happened to me; I only rode horses when I visited my grandparents' house in the countryside.
I've heard wonderful things about both sports. A few months ago, I was talking to my daughter about Tai Ahi. It's something I'd like to do.
Thank you so much, dear friend @avdesing, for taking the time to share this experience and the beautiful videos.
Enjoy a beautiful afternoon.
I think Tai Chi would be very good for you because it balances your energy and helps you heal. This channel I'm bringing you is free, and you can do it at home! Horses are beautiful; I've always liked them. Thank you very much!🤗

My wife and I both enjoy horses also. We got engaged while doing a horseback riding activity in Monterey, California 😀
Do you have any plans to ride horses in the near future?
I would love to be able to have or do some kind of activity with horses. I need to look around town to see if there is anything available. I moved here a few years ago and don't know much about it, but I would really like to try it. Thank you!
Good evening @avdesing, horse riding and Tai Chi—horses and energy, there's no doubt that choosing a sport is very personal. I'll watch the videos tomorrow... but I remember when I was little, five or six years old, on Saturday mornings there was a black and white TV program dedicated to Aikido. I remember it just as you describe it, as a dance full of harmony.
Thank you for the mention, thank you very much. Thank you very much for sharing these memories (oh, grandparents!). I must say that I didn't think this initiative would be so difficult for me. There must be something.
A big hug.

Thank you so much ❤️

Horse riding is exactly the sport that suits you best; if you asked me which sport I would imagine you doing, it would be this. We know how much you love horses, which are a source of inspiration and elegance, freedom in some ancient times and a friend of man. And we also know how beautifully you paint them. 🐴🎨
Although you know that I am not exactly a sporty type 😅, and unfortunately, I don't go to Pilates anymore either, I thank you very much for the invitation! 😇
I'm not really into sports either, I just walk, ha ha ha. I don't get along with sports, I think...🤣
Thank you very much!!!💗
But walking is great! It helps us keep active and it's interesting to see a lot of things on our walks, right? So... I think it should be added as an official spot discipline! 😆
Have a nice Sunday 😇
I think that should happen too, once walking has been established as a discipline, ha ha ha.
Don't worry, my partner shut down the initiative. I'll launch the next one soon!😃
Muchas gracias!!!
