dannewton just finished a 9.29km run, that lasted for 63 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 702.0 calories.

Description from Strava:

After a relatively relaxing weekend, (apart from the 2 runs I basically sat around and took it easy, eating ALL the snacks in the process) I was back on it today.

First run of the week, and as per usual it was a slow steady plod along the bypass again for an easy 9km. The pace was reasonable and the heart rate was kept low (below 145bpm), and it was a pleasant enough hour spent.

As you can see from the above image, my Garmin Watch status has acknowledged that I'm picking up the training load after the recent 'easy' week, and my status is now at Productive (as opposed to 'peaking'). I'm also apparently registering a VO2 Max value of 47*, not sure when that increased lol

*yeah I know, its only a watch measuring stats/data, and its not the same as a proper scientific exercise test. And I know its not even that important in terms of endurance performance, as running economy and mental toughness and the ability to take on nutrition all play a part in success in endurance sports

But anyway still nice to see that I'm still improving, even if the metric is slightly artificial!

It was a nice little run out today anyway. NIce and bright, and still felt warm in the sunshine. As I was coming home at 5:30, I noticed the sun was quite low in the sky, so it's not gonna be to long before I'm going to be running dusk and eventually nightfall.

Probably a good idea to dig out my headtorch (and make sure it is charged!)

Todays session also took me over 1000km for running in 2023. Its not quite where I wanted to be at this point in the year, as the blip in the middle of the graph corresponds to my injury. I am definitely making up for lost time though, and while I set a new lower target of 1500km for the year for which I would need to average 40km a week for the rest of the year, in the last few weeks I've been touching 50km.

I even managed 56km last week.

So barring any more mishaps (touches wood!), I will comfortably hit the 1500km target. This will still be the most I've run in a single year, so even if I don't miss the original 2023km target, this is still something to be pleased with I guess.

Anyway, after 3 days of running in a row, I'm gonna take a rest day tomorrow, and then I'll be back out for approx 10km on Wednesday, so I'll see you then :-)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Nice! I see you getting the hang of this heart rate running and you are also possibly going to reach your new goal! At least one of us is!

Yep, sometimes life gets in the way and so it's worth adjusting to something more achievable :-)

To be fair you are still exercising regularly, you've just replaced the hiking and running with jabs, hooks and uppercuts. All good fun and very beneficial of course but no distance involved... as long as you are enjoying it then thats the most important thing

You're doing great. The apps can just inspire us and I like the stats. I would like to get up to 40km per week, but would need to do a few longer runs for that. I need a balance of improving fitness without wearing myself out totally.

Have fun.

The apps are definitely motivating. It all comes down to how we like to spend our time, I'm happy to spend 10 hours a week exercising, but I know that your music practice is something you really enjoy and that takes a lot of time too.

And then there is work and sleep and family and food and.... there is only so many hours in the day

We all get the same time per week. At least I am not spending 12 hours plus commuting each week like I used to. I don't watch that much TV or play games, but I find plenty to do and exercise is part of that. It's also when I do most of my podcast listening.

This place is very beautiful, walking on such a place is its own fun and you never know how the time passes and one walks for a long time.

You can easily achieve your goals mate @dannewton, you are just 98 km behind. you need to do an extra 1.1 kilometre daily to reach your goal by the end of this year. I wish you the best of luck.
