steevc just finished a 4.93km run, that lasted for 26 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 336.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
I have been trying to persuade my friend @todayslight to come and at least walk the parkrun course, but he is not feeling up to it yet. They do encourage walkers to take part and there were a few today.

My daughter @matildamoment is with us this weekend and she came along. She is building up to her first 10km event. We had a good chat on the way there.

It is another lovely morning, but it was raining hard last night. The course will get muddier from now on through the winter, but it is pretty good for now.

I set off at a fairly good pace, but could only sustain that for the first lap. Then I settled into a more steady pace. A couple of guys came past me on my last lap, but they looked like they were taking it easy. Maybe they were not worried about their times. I was hoping to improve mine. On the final straight a couple more people came past me just before the finish, but I was going as quick as I could manage. My time was almost exactly the same as my last attempt, but at least it was not much slower.

My daughter came in a few minutes behind me, but was happy with her time. She has done a few different parkrun events now, including some I have not been to.

There was more chatting on the way home. After a shower and coffee I had to go off to get my flu jab. This is the first time I have had one, so I hope there are no side effects. I am off to a party this evening for one of my musician friends.

Run free.

Good to see you were able to run and not needed to volunteer this time.

It's fun to have shared interests with our kids. They offer fresh perspective while we offer years of experience which makes for each one learning from the other. I think having so much fun with my adult children is the best surprise to parenting.

They were asking for volunteers, but found just enough. I expect I'll be helping out again soon.

I consider I must be doing something right if I still get on with my grown-up kids. They have turned out as nice people.

I know what you mean. I have a bit of a bewildered reaction when folks compliment me on my sons. I know I raised them. Yet who they are is something wholly their own.

I'll get there next Saturday, need to build up a little bit of strength during this week with my morning walks! I'll not succumb to the weight.

Even if you just come and watch the parkrun that's something. Then you can try one lap. Nobody is forcing you to go straight in with the full thing. Take it at your own pace.

I will, next Saturday for sure. The walk to the shop was enough for today, believe me, it nearly did me in.

So you say :) You can stop and recover before you do a bit more. Don't push yourself too hard too soon.

Hello steevc

It's always good to see you running.Approx 1km in 5 mins is a good job man.

Better times if you shave your chin.., more streamlined and less air resistance 😀

I did actually shave the worst of it off this morning. At the speed I go aerodynamics is not such an issue anyway.

Good job on the Parkrun and good pace. 👍 26 min is great.

I also went in and joined my local event today. I will post about it in my Actifit later. Thanks for inspiring me to join in.
