Sunday Run: Far and wide

I just finished a 14.016km running that lasted about 1hh:21mm:55ss !

I was a little wary of running after my bike accident on Friday, but the leg was not feeling too bad. There is not even a satisfying bruise. Yesterday was really windy, but it has calmed down a bit today. Apart from when the wind was against me it was good conditions for running. A little rain yesterday did not have a lasting effect.

I decided to start out on my usual loop and extend it if I felt okay. The long slog up the hill to Fairfield was not too bad and so I pressed on towards Norton. Even the long, steep hill to the Grange Estate seemed to go by without me trying too hard. I could feel twinges from my thigh muscle, but it was not really painful.

There were plenty of people about, including a fair few runners. I overtook a couple and that may be where I picked up some speed. I do like the stretch of the Greenway from Norton towards Stotfold. There are some nice stretches under the trees. Instead of heading into Stotfold I opted to go back to the Grange even though it meant getting back up the hill. I passed Carnage Corner from the parkrun course and it is totally dried out. It is tempting to go and run that course some time on my own.

From there it was mostly downhill towards home, but the leg was protesting a bit my then and going downhill was a little uncomfortable. My foot did not feel quite right, but I may have been compensating for the leg pain. I made it home okay and will rest it for a couple more days before I run again.

I listened to a few podcasts, including Linux Inlaws. I do not think this is related to the old Linux Outlaws, but also features a German and someone from the British Midlands.

No wildlife to report apart from various birds.

I am pretty happy with the distance and pace I managed today. That is over 500km of running this year so far. Google Fit thinks I should manage 150 'heart points' each week, but I got nearly four times that this week. I had some breakfast when I got back, but all the bowls were in the dishwasher and so I used a plastic box for my cereal and fruit.

You have uploaded 138 running activities, and 9 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 9 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 126.30 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:53 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.844min/km!
Looks like you went a bit faster than usual this time! Nice work!
Have a !BEER for your troubles!

Bike accident is not something to prevent you running. I had an awful fall from bike 10 years ago with a lot of injuries but I was back on my bike just a week later with all my bandages on lol

Sorry to hear that. My accident was minor and just a reminder to be more careful.

Meanwhile, I go blind for a second if I get up too quickly. How do you run for so long and not pass out?

I've been doing this for a few years. When I started 10 minutes would leave me exhausted for a while. It gets better with training.

Good work @steevc, I still need to lose about another 1/2 stone before i attempt any running (well lets be honest wheezy jogging!), but its going OK so watch this space.

Oohhh, whats EXHAUST, interesting.

Well do what you can to stay fit. Even a brisk walk is good. A few years back I could not have imagined running a third of a marathon before breakfast :)

Hello, I think that many kilometers after your fall, the pounding is more intense on the descents. It is good to rest a few days, and in the next training I do not load my legs as much.
Greetings and good luck this week. Take care.

Nice! That is pretty cool about the "heart points" thing! I am hoping my wife and I get can get out and get a walk in tomorrow without getting rained on. It already looks like Thursday is going to be a total wash.

Looking nice here for a few days, so I will get out. Have the floods subsided?
