Morning Run: Short, sharp intervals

I just finished a 6.363km running that lasted about 0hh:35mm:0ss !

The weather is turning warm this week and could reach 29C. Ideally I need to be getting out before it warms up too much, but it depends on when I wake up. It was not too bad when I got out today. It may be warm enough for a swim later.

I went for the 30-20-10 intervals today. On my warmup an older guy went zooming past me. Not sure I have seen him before, but he was shifting. My intervals start once I get to the cycle path and do not have to worry about crossing roads. It is just annoying that there is some building work for a new school going on halfway to Stotfold. I had to run on the road a bit to avoid that. On the way back I turned off to head across the fields.

The intervals finished as I left the gravel track onto the actual fields, and so it was a jog home. I thought I had updated the workout to keep going until I pressed stop, but it ran out and I managed to start a new one. Hence the two runs for today.

It all felt fairly good today, but maybe I need to push a bit harder on the faster sprints. I ought to be able to get down to 4min/km for those few seconds if I can move my legs quickly enough.

I am making use of my son's new pull-up bar in his bedroom doorway. Can only do a few, but hope to improve on that. I have been fairly good on doing strength workouts on days when I do not run recently. My son has caught up with me on height at 18 and may outweigh me soon as he is doing a lot of working out. He is not into running though.

I see that you can log 5km times on parkrun that do not count towards your personal record, but keep the community going. I may try to do one this Saturday.

Run free and stay well.

I was doing some 'not parkrun' anyway. Need to make it a more regular thing and see if I can get my time down.

Only for brief periods :) Not even sure the times can be that accurate on a ten second sprint. I'll be happy enough when I can sustain under 5min/km.

Great news!! 4km/min is like 24 seconds per 100m. Some young dudes can't do this. I don't even think i can do a kilometer that fast , i might run out of air. You are really a strong man.

4km/min is really quick :) I'm not even sure how fast I could run 100m. I could not run a whole kilometre at that speed yet. I'm not young, so I do what I can to stay fit.

Nice job! There is an older guy that we see every morning walking at our park. He does a mixture of running and walking and he is the only guy I know that actually uses the pull up bar they have at the park. We skipped our walk for the first day in eight days today. It was much too muggy and looking like rain.

There's a bar in our park that I have used, but not seen anyone else use it. Maybe I can get to a level where I don't look so bad on it.

You need to stake more BEER (24 staked BEER allows you to call BEER one time per day)

You're really sporty. I have given up hope in a while.

Will start my schedule next week hopefully but I'm limiting myself to homework out or jogging in my compound

I never used to be into sport, but I started running as I found I was putting on weight and just not very fit. I find it fun now and I have explored the local area a lot more than I would have otherwise.

Me too. I'm putting on weight. I have hope that once I get back to school, school stress will take it's roll on me. I'll reduce drastically I guess. Not sure
