Morning Run - Smile

I just finished a 6.935km running that lasted about 0hh:39mm:42ss !

Another overcast morning. Fairly cool, but that is fine by me. I headed up to Fairfield with some fartlek sprints. You should see some spikes on the graph for those. If I can get under 5min/km I am happy.

It has rained a bit lately, so everything is a bit damp, although it is not too muddy. I am very used to this route and the sprints combined with the climbs make it a good workout. I even have a couple of little jumps to do.

As I was by the road on the other side I saw a car with a camera on top. I guessed it might be a Google Streetview car and this was confirmed when I saw it again on my way back through Arlesey. Maybe I will be on the updated views soon.

The average pace on this run was okay. I was keeping up a reasonable pace between the sprints, but they were quite short.

Our local foxes have been active. We saw one cross the garden last night before it got dark and then it came across the garden mid-morning today. It may have surprised our cat who was outside, but they did not come into too close contact. I think the foxes have cubs and so they need to get out more to find food. They are welcome to take out some of the rats we see.

Have a good day. Run free and stay well.

How big are the rats? We get some mice around our house, but no rats. It could just be a language thing though. Nice job on your run! We are heading for another hot streak here, so I am not sure how active I will be outside until that passes.

We get mice and voles too which are pretty small. The rats are around 9" long for just the body. I have had to get rid of a few dead ones and they are quite hefty. They have been digging tunnels around the chicken run. We have traps and poison out there.

The weather is so variable here right now. It has been one of the wettest ever Mays. Could be warming a little this week.

Oh dang, yep, that sounds like rats. Yikes. I don't think I could handle that. We have opossums and they are kind of like rats!

In our garden the wildlife mammals we've seen are foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, mice, rats and voles. There are small deer around, but they don't tend to get to us as we are not on the edge of town. There are badgers in the area too, but I've not seen a live one. Nothing that is likely to hurt people.

Wow! That is pretty impressive! You have a virtual zoo there!

Nothing too exotic. Seen loads of different birds in the garden. I know many species are in decline, but seeing some gives me some hope. Next door is all overgrown, so it gives them some refuge.

Are you the only who went for the running?

Only one in my house and I didn't go with friends. I see other runners around. My son runs, but does his own thing. He would not be out that early. I am happy enough on my own.
