Sunday ChitChat – Week 12 Highlights and New Prompts

Hello!
Are the die‑hard sweaters treating themselves well this Sunday? Because that’s exactly what they should be doing!
I’m feeling cheerful — in fact, we all are — because we’ve seen real progress in the level of participation in our beloved Community.
This week we had some joyful appearances and two debuts! No, what am I saying — four! A MTB (@mrdani12), an e‑bike (Sandy, from @riverflows), the pedals (from @flemingfarm)… and the Bianchi of our peloton leader 😅 @friendlymoose, who’s finally recovering from the aches left by a cold. You’ll regain your strength little by little; just give yourself time and don’t push too hard until your body responds, mate.
Here are the links so you can shower them with lots and lots of love.

@lesmann, as usual, brought us his weekly mileage report from his two bicycles… the wind has been a problem, so it seems our cyclist needs that wind to turn into a tailwind, so his totals can go up.

The Sunday ChitChats, for their part, are waking up that playful, sharing‑spirited cyclist… I know they’re becoming contagious for everyone, and the one asking the questions is finding it harder each time. But I’m staying strong, don’t worry, despite whatever difficulties I may be having…
Thank you, @run.vince.run — I saw you added the map to the #Strava2Hive posts. Congratulations to everyone who exercised this week and shared their progress through this service.
Aaaand...
Ladies and gentlemen, first participation! Cycling Shit - uhm... Chit Chat 😁 by nozem01.
@friendlymoose also took part and answered last week’s initiative question, indeed he did. You can also reply in the comments of the post that goes out on Sundays, folks. Although this format of writing about a specific bike ride and, at the same time, answering the question is really brilliant, don’t you think? 😃
The second participation in this format arrived early this time, because she usually takes her time…
(Sunday ChitChat) I smashed the challenge! by nanixxx.
Up to this part of the weekly summary, you can really feel the energy here, you truly can! 🙌
Now let’s move on to this week’s prompts. You don’t have to answer them all… it’s entirely your choice.
- What type of bike do you use and why does it work well for you?
- If your bike could talk, what would it say about you?
- Which song pushes you on when you feel you can’t go any further?
...
Remember to use the hashtag #SundayChitChat, and feel free to invite a friend to join in. That will help us connect with more people.
Catch you soon!
Stupid snow blew my weekend rides and just got my trainer.
Currently on a GT Timberline mtb I have converted to largely a gravel bike now. Am looking at my first road bike though, a used Giant OCR C3 I hope to check out this week.
My bike always is yelling at me to put more miles on it.

So you sort out the kit yourself! That’s ace! I’d love to pick up some mechanics to do likewise. It’s on my list for this year—let’s see how I pull it off.
Snow… all right, but you’d better stick to indoor training whenever that becomes a problem.
Go on, run to calm her down a bit… haha… It’s making a lot of noise. 🤣
Nice one, there’s always a bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers on my playlists.
👌 Thank you!
Oppfh, that first trainer ride was way harder than a normal ride outside with it 70F/21C in the house. I will have to move outside to the deck for the cooler air.
Ah… 21 degrees… what would you say if you were riding like me through these streets under the sun at 28, 30 or even more degrees? Haha…
Lol. It's a good bit better outside where there is wind, even if hot. Growing up in central California we had really low humidity and REALLY hot summers. If it is humid then it doesn't matter, I melt to a puddle at most temps.

Great to see some more activity in the cycling community again!
Welcome to the newcomers!
As most of you have already noticed, I just recently bought a new Bianchi Road bicycle which I use for commuting and longer rides in the weekend and I often take with me on holidays.
It's light and aerodynamic, so I can cover longer distances and use it for climbing too.
If my bike could talk, it would probably remind me to take it to the bike shop for a checkup every once in a while. That’s something I tend to postpone more often than I should.
I often play a cycling motivation list on Spotify during my rides. That keeps the tempo up.
I do have a nice story about songs and cycling.
A few years ago during a holiday in Italy, I did a long ride and was on very tough climb. It was above 30 degrees (C) and I was struggling severely. Then this song came up and gave me some new energy.
It's a Dutch song which translates as "Emergency".
The funny thing is that whenever I hear this song on the radio, I'm back on that climb 😀

😃 Yayyyyyyyy... I’m really happy about that!
I was just noticing that Bianchi also makes gravel bikes. I wish I could have a gravel Bianchi for these tough roads… haha. I’ll picture it.
Ideally, you should do a full service every 2–3 months depending on use, but the chain does need weekly lubrication and the drivetrain a deep clean every 2–3 weeks. (That’s what my mechanic says). 🤓
I’ll give that a listen. How lovely that the music brings back such a wonderful memory for you!
That’s a really high temperature for you! I imagine you’d almost be burning up! 😶
I'm cleaning and libricating my chain regularly. That is something I can do myself. But the rest of the checkup needs to be done by a professional in my case.
Let me at that Bianchi and you’ll see me dismantle it 🤣.
I’ve died laughing!
Nooooo!
🤓😂
Awesome to see there's comments already when I got home, times are changing for the better! 🤎
Here is my participation for this week!
Miracles do happen! 😀
