The Accidental Upgrade: From Windows 11 to 10k Steps
Today was supposed to be a standard office day. No walks, just a full calendar and the quiet hum of my laptop. But then came the Windows 11 upgrade—two glorious hours of my machine flashing progress percentages like a slot machine that never hits jackpot.
So, I made a choice. I grabbed my shoes and took my productivity outdoors. The park didn’t need updating. The sun filtering through the trees, the lazy ripples on the canal, and those pops of wildflowers were running their best version already.
In the evening, I took round two—another stroll post-dinner to lock in my 10k steps. Because why not? If Windows gets an upgrade, so does my step count.
Sometimes, the best progress bar is the one you see on your fitness app.

Upgrading any OS is often a leap of faith, I’m now terrified to upgrade my work laptop after one update nearly killed it!
Can’t beat a good walk though can you!
A good walk is always worth it!!!
As for the upgrade... well... :-) Yes, it was horror :-D It took me 3 hours to get the upgrade done + a full day of backing up and restoring and resetting settings :-D
But well, we're on the magnificent win11 now!

Yes! Work requirements, and on a work provided laptop. If only for myself (and even work requirements, but not on a "have to use" laptop from the customer), I would run it in a virtual machine, so it can't do much harm! :-D
And yes, I truly hate windows. Still. After all these years.

I figured that indeed. Running it in a VM is a good idea, and I used to do that. Then I finally let it go for any use. Hahaha...ditto that, my friend, ditto that! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Same thing, I had a win10 in a VM on my Macbook, together with 3 linux distros to try out. Back then, in 2021, I could use the VM'ed windows for my client, but since that contract ended, end 2021, I haven't even booted it once :-) So gone it is now!
