I love the color of the flower! And to have a purpose other than beauty is a bonus!Sounds heartsmart to me! Most of the torrential rain we get at this time of year is at night. So, we are lucky.
I love that your mom grows a vegetable garden! I plant marigolds on the borders of my vegetable garden, although I didn't put one in this year, except for tomatoes.

Oh yes! I suppose my mom won't even be interested in having this flowers without its health benefits! Hahaha! 😂 The benefit far outweighs its beauty. 😍 Did I say that we even make blue rice out of it? Hmmm, I think I missed it out. So, here you go..
