Up at 6:30. While the wife walked the dogs, breakfast was prepared. A smooth, purposeful morning — there was somewhere to be.

Drove to Logarska dolina for the Herletov memorial — an annual giant slalom race held on the snowfield (plaz) below Planjava mountain, organised by the Mountaineering Society of Solčava. A beloved local tradition that blends competitive spirit, alpine heritage, and proper mountain atmosphere. The kind of event that reminds you why winter in Slovenia is worth every cold morning.

The conditions were anything but easy: a narrow track, many bumps and jumps, and stones showing through the snow in places. Not a course for the faint-hearted.

And yet — the family delivered.

Wife won the women's alpine ski category. Son won the men's snowboard category.

Two podiums, one family. Hard to top that.

The winners' proclamation and post-race gathering took place at Pension Razpotje — the perfect end to a competitive morning.

Home by 7 pm

Back in Ljubljana by 7 pm. Dinner, a doggy walk, and a short intentionally very slow evening run to move the legs without asking too much of them. A gentle close to a big day.
