The Mind Health Compounder [May.01.2020]🅰️📘

avatar

Hi everybody,

Last nights report was meant as an introduction to the health compounder MIND.

I would like to go into detail around the idea that many (if not most) activities humans do falls within one or more of the following categories.

• Spirit
• Mind
• Body
• Special Focus

I have found that being mindful of how we human minute to minute at any given time holds the key to living a more intentional life where each aspect of health matters.

Many people live deferral lifestyles where they attempt to live a wealthy life by setting aside their health.

This, I believe, is regrettably a scenario that will not lead to ones best life.

Taking care of each component of health is vitally important. After all... what good is wealth when you don’t have the health to actually enjoy it?

During this pandemic where physical distancing and self isolation are the recommended measures... mental health and resiliency is more important than ever.

So how can we take better care of our minds...?

Here are some activities that I have been doing to keep my mind active and sharp:

• Emptying the mind with meditation. (Making room for new ideas and thoughts) [I am making time to do this once per. day for 10min.]
• Reading... or as I like to say... Studying. Study is one level deeper than reading because when you study it implies the application of knowledge. [I consider myself to be a reader so I have working hard to make time to read a book even for 15min. every day.]
• Writing. This is a form of active learning. Sousing out your own thoughts rather than just tuning into what everybody else thinks... Writing is a great way to think for yourself. Writing every day keeps the mind sharp, inquisitive, and agile so doing it often makes a real difference! [I have been getting back to writing for at least an hour here on Hive. Being here keeps my mind sharp!]
• Querying. Being in the practice of asking questions (even writing them down as they come to mind.) and learning to follow their thread to the next question is a habit I have been developing for awhile now. [Staying curious and interested in the world is important to me. I’m practicing this every day.]
• The Dictionary. Expanding literacy is what elevates and frees the mind for greater and greater things. Freedom and words are inseparable. [My goal is to learn a new word or delve deeper into a word I already know every day.]
• Connecting with sharp/bright people will re-route your neural connections around ideas you may not have thought of before. Open round table discussion on a regular basis can bring you to a whole new level. [Im doing this every day with a mastermind every week with my business and investment T.E.A.M.]
• Listening to Podcasts/YouTube videos by specific and carefully selected thought leaders. [I listen to about 2 to 3 podcasts and about 2 to 3 YouTube videos daily.]

So now... How does COMPOUND an activity for the Mind actually work?

I’ll get into that during my next Actifit Report!

In the mean time... I would like to know... Is there an activity that falls under the Mind Health Compounder that you do that I haven’t listed in this post? I would be very interested to hear about it!

Take care of your minds everybody!

Thats a good list for things to keep you busy! :D

I am currently trying a digital detox(to the best of my ability) and that have left me with more time not spent in an unnatural dopamine state, so now I do read a bit daily! And thats awesome!

In terms of health, I started a caffeine detox sunday so thats interesting to see where it will get me :D

Hey @cwow! Thanks for commenting.

I never thought about that... I think a digital detox might be a good way to clear out the mind leaving more room for what really matters. That's a good call even if it's once per. week. Thank you for the input!

I don't actually like the way caffeine makes me feel. I know who I am so when something I'm consuming makes me feel off... I'm off of it right away! It's all about setting your normal and being really mindful about that. So yeah! Going off caffeine (even 1 one day per. week) is a good call in my opinion.

What I have found out about Digital Detox, is that it can be fairly easy if you have stuff today or stuff you can work on. If you dont have that, then it becomes quite hard :D

I am still off Instagram and games on my phone, I do watch youtube still but I also read more, so it goes in the right direction :D

I dont know how I feel when I am not on caffeine, I have been on that shit ever since I was a early teen slurping 2 liters coka a day xD
So I really wanna detox completely from Caffeine and properly just drink a cup of coffee if I am out with friends :D

Absolutely! I think that your right. Having a short list of other things that you enjoy is the key to sidelining the over-saturation of digital access.

I actually deleted nearly all my Facebook friends (I have 8 left) and minimized my exposure by deleting all the other social media access points for that very reason.

I really want to focus on quality over quantity with my social network. Making more time for my real friends and getting rid of the rest of the social clutter. At first it felt like I was missing out... But then everything else in my life got better (richer in fact!). I became less distracted and more focused on what matters...

Now the only real social media presence I have is here on the Hive Blockchain, a little on Twitter (very little), and some on my Fitbit. I have plans to eventually bring those connections over here to Hive. Less social media is the way to live more socially connected!

As for the caffeine! It might be hard to kick that habit at first... especially if you have been on it for awhile like you have... But I don't think your going to regret getting rid of it! Your going to discover a whole new you and the way you interface with life will be better...

Interesting... I wonder if the caffeine we take is part of navigating the stress and overwhelm that our digitally connected lives produce... I'm going to have to think about that...

All this said... We no longer live in just the Information Age... It is now the Attention Age and the generations being born right now are called Generation Alpha for a reason. Here's a video I was watching this morning about the subject of attention and navigating our hyper connected world. I found it super interesting and well presented!

Yes! Having something to do is key! But there is a lot to do, you just have to detox ;)
I workout now daily. I read daily. I started doing some Silva Ultramind (Meditation) 2 days ago and I am stoke for that! :D

I wanna start a Life Coaching business, where I plan on using social media to expand my brand, so deleting friends and such is not the way to go for me :P I do have an chrome extention called "Kill News Feed", which removes every single content on facebook, I am only left with notification which I get from my work group, so I dont use facebook hehe.

This is day 6 of being Caffeine free and this is the first day I haven't had a headache and I have felt a lot more happy today in generel and about life :D Not sure if its only the Caffeine detox or also the meditation and maybe even the digital/dopamine detox I also do :D
I have listen to Gary Vaynerchuk plenty in the past talking about the Attention Age ^^ I am familiar with it :D

I have writing down daily what I have been going through with the caffeine detox, its mostly only headaches tho
