Wait, you are saying that, now you are saying this. What works for an adult, that might not work for a kid for self defense. So you have to teach something that works for kids.
A kid can punch or kick, but that might not hurt the attacker that much. Or, it might make no difference. Today we are going to talk about what a kid can do when the attacker covers his/her mouth and pick him/her up.
Welcome back to Self Defense Situation # 108.
Every situation is different, so what works in one situation, that might not work in another situation. In this series of posts, we usually talk about different situations and how you can defend yourself in that situation.
Let's watch this video. This is not my video and all video credit goes to Master Lessons Media.
When the attacker picks a kid up covering his/her mouth, it is difficult for him/her to stay on the ground. An adult can make the distance between her legs and put her weight down, and that makes it hard for the attacker to lift her up. In case the attacker picks her up, she can use her leg to lock the attacker's leg and strike.
When we talk about kids self defense, we have to focus on what a kid can do to change the situation. A kid can keep kicking the attacker. If a kid moves the attacker's hand a little bit from his/her mouth and bites his hand, he has to put the kid down.
A kid can scream and draw attention. Teach your kids to say, let me go, leave me alone, I don't know you, you are a stranger, stranger. If people just hear a kid screaming, they might not pay attention and think the attacker might be his/her relatives.
When a kid says, I don't know you, stranger, you are a stranger, that sends the clear message, people around him/her can come forward and help. Hope you get the point.
Please feel free to share what you can teach your kids for self defense. You can definitely teach your kids martial arts. And prepare your kids so that he/she knows what to do in a situation like this.
Thank you so much for reading this post. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section. Stay safe. Always be happy!
