It was in 1972 the first eSports event took place, where the video game competition took place among student in Stanford university, in which they competed in the Spacewar Olympics for ultimate prize of a year subscription for the Rolling Stone magazine and in 1980 it became solid competitive gaming as the first eSports competition was held, which was Space Invaders Championship, that drew over 10,000 participants across the US and since eSports has gone mainstream and caught global attention since year 2000.

Esports can be described as the world of competitive, organized video gaming hence, they are video gaming competitions where players who can called the athletes confront each other in multiplayer video games.


eSports Explained: A Career in Professional Gaming

Software developer: In the gaming industry the software developer in the gaming work together with designers to transform the designer ideas into code. Animation Engineer: one of the great feature one can talk about any good game is animation, especially the way the animated characters move and morph with amazing fluidity that make it so real is the work of good animation engineering, hence their job is very well needed.

Content writer: The writing part in gaming is all encompassing, from writing the scripts and stories, writing speechless for characters, which include conversation between characters. Also technical writing is also needed for writing the game documentation and instructions.

Market Researcher: This job is very critical to the success on any video game, This have have to do with collecting of data that will give necessary insight to know it the game will be a hit. With this insight the get to know and decide how, where and who to sell to. They conduct surveys among potential buyers in order to define their buying preferences and habits.

Currently, some university are offering degree in eSports. In USA, Robert Morris University in Illinois and University of California Irvine, in the UK, Staffordshire University, Singapore, Informatics Academy, in India Asian Institute of Gaming and Animation and in China, the Lanxiang Technical School.

Conclusively, one can decide to pick up career in eSport and with the popularity of eSport that is growing in leap and bound, companies are becoming brand sponsors and world’s biggest governing bodies are seeing the potential of eSport, in which it will be a medal competitive gaming will at the 2022 Asian Games and the Olympic organizing committee has also revealed that it is considering including eSports as a demonstration event in time for Paris 2024. You don't need to be a professional eSport player to to carve out for yourself a career in eSports.
