January 9 2022 - Long Sunday run and new PB

avatar

Sunday morning and the weather was good. Perfect for a run.

Actually, it was very cold out, about 1C and there was a ground frost. It had rained heavily the night before so there was a lot of ice about which made the route for my run a bit more difficult. I had to slow down my pace in order to be safe.

The consequence was I got half way around my route and felt more energetic than I normally would. The morning was nice, so I pushed a bit further and increased the distance.

You can see from my photo, there was a lot of water around.

You can see I managed to complete 9.75 km which is a new PB for me since I started running again. In my new year goals I said I want to be able to run 10km, at this rate I am very soon going to hit that goal. I could have done it to be honest as I still had some energy but felt I had pushed myself enough.

I think today counts as a #win too if you see my Actifit graph below.

And, I am celebrating today for feeling so #alive

Thanks for reading 😊

Good job! I think 170 is already a quite high heart rate... Still the average of 155 is a lot lower and not exaggerated... 10k will be a piece of cake and you could have been doing it already today! Time for new goals!

I agree, and not sure I trust it. I do a workout on the rowing machine sometimes which I struggle with more, get out of breath more and my heart rate is considerably lower. I guess the 170 is on the hills, there are some reasonably steep hills where I run and that is tough for a few mins.

Thanks for stopping by - cheers !WINE

Thanks for the winex and the Alive (could you link me some info about how Alive works? I thought it was just a tag to use, but it seems to be like the Winex?) Here's already some !LUV in return :-)
170 for me is close to my limit. I think I'll only go over it when doing 1500-3000m track... Last weekend in 6k Cross I've reached 168 and 31st when I ran a top road race I got to 169 in a sprint after 6,7k at 3'46"/km average

You can read more in the #alive tribe. Your Actifit reports would fit under the #AliveAndThiving tag. See the following

https://www.wearealiveand.social/@aliveandthriving

For the Alive bot, you need to stake 1000 Alive tokens and then you can call it 10 times a day. There are other competitions etc. within the tribe for giving away Alive tokens. The tribe is about celebrating each day that we are #alive

Running certainly gets the step count going! I haven't run for many, many years but I do cycle. Cycling does not seem to record as high as running but I enjoy it so much out in the forest trails. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get out as much as I'd like to these days. Keep it up!

It took me a while to get going ok after an injury about 3 years ago. I do a lot of hiking although not so much during Covid as I used to. I should be getting back into it this year again hopefully. The running prepares me for the hills well.

I do like cycling but don't have a bike at the moment. Plus the better half gets nervous of me going out on the roads and thinks I will kill myself - especially in London.
