Another really sold day on Saturday which puts me at around +1.5 units on the week, and I'm aiming to build on this today hoping to get it to 2 units or more which allows me to bring out the rocket booster thumbnail on my weekly results roundup post. 4 Matches left to be played and I'm highly looking forward to watching them and finding some more good betting spots...
Genk vs Standard
Genk managed to win with 1-3 as the underdog in the mid-week Europa League match as the better team and should be through with the home match played next Thursday. They are now 7 matches unbeaten with 6 wins and 1 draw, and it looks like newcoach Hayen maganed to fix their main weakness which is/was the defense. However, I would argue that they remain a bit uncertain in thedefense and they do not yet manage to keep stable momentum in their matches. When they score they are on a high and when they are behind they experience a low. Last week, they won with a 2-3 score against Mechelen in a match that could have gone both ways. One of the things that speaks for them right now is the fact that Karetsas is in great form and one of the key aspects for me is to watch and see if he's having a good day. If that is the case, I'm much more willing to back Genk. Today, it remains a match inbetween Europe league matches with some fatigue and there might be some kind of rotation even though I do believe that they will really focus on winning this match to claim their spot in playoff 1. Standard is a team most of the time dissapointing and having few highs. 2 weeks ago, they came with an enforced defense to Club Brugge and many missings but a patient Club Brugge managed to score 3 goals in the 1st half and end the match with 7-0 in corners giving only 0.13 xg away. last week, Standard played a good match at home putting in a ton of energy in the 1st half and getting 1-0 ahead to in the end take a deserved draw. They still have some injuries with especially Teuma and Epollo not there. I see Genk as clearly the better team today and also in a better streak but at the same time, it has become extremely rare for teams in Belgium to have big outspoken scorelines. So I'm always cautious to bet big handicaps especially given the fact that Genk had a mid week match and still isn't always looking the best in defense. I did take 0.16 units on
Genk 1st Half -0.5 @ 2.080 along with 0.04 units on
Genk Win & Both To Score @ 3.670. depending on how things look in the match and the form of the day from Karetsas, I might take more on Genk in-game.
La Louviere vs KV Mechelen
La Louviere has dropped to 2nd last place now and are 4 points short of a safe spot. What striked me most was a team pep talk before their last home match where they shouted 'Don't concede a goal and we take the 3 points' which pretty much sums them up as they are the 0-0 kings in the league especially at home on their artificial pitch where everyone has a hard time. This also shows in the line today as they are the favorite against a potential playoff 1 team. My main angles on La Louviere is that teams always have a difficult time there and under / 1st half under especially. Mechelen is the team who are last in the expected standings but somehow they are still inside a playoff 1 spot. It's quite sure though that similar to many times when they were in this position they will miss out of it eventually. Last week, they played 2-3 at home against Genk in a match where all goals kind of came falling out of the air and which could have gone both ways. I do expect a match where both teams will jus start cautious being afraid of possible counters which makes for another under La Louviere match. Stats show that Mechelen are vulnerable in defense at 2.14-1.36-1.55-2.02-2.34-1.62-2.9xg against in their last 7 away games which expelains the rather high odds and line.La Louviere home matches under on the 1st half has been one of my go-to bets for a while and I stick to it for today not expecting a high-scoring match. I took 0.4 units on
1st Half Under 1 @ 2.043 which I'm not taking up as an official bet since I do plan to scale out in-game. I also took 0.02 units on

Zulte-Waregem vs Anderlecht
Zulte-Waregem is in the place just above the playdowns but have been putting up ok performances. Last week, they got kind of screwed by the ref in a match where they were 0-2 up against stvv on a snowy pitch but a penalty + red card along with a late questionable goal made them lose 3-2 still.The week before at home they took a narrow deserved 1-0 win against Dender in what was a cautious 1st half. That was different the week before at home against Westerlo which was an open match which ended in a 0-1 loss. Anderlect after qualifyig for the cup final was put back with their feet on the ground with a mediocre 0-0 match against La louviere where there were only 0.78-0.84xg and where mainly the first 15 minutes were good. It's hard to really estimate them as they do have quality in the squad.These teams generally have quite wild matches against eachother that in the most recent encounters ended 2-3 / 3-2 / 2-3 each time in favor of Waregem. I can see many totally different scenarios as viable in this match. Zulte could be the better team taking the straightforward win, so could Anderlecht and either a boring 0-0 or a wild 3-3 match both would not surprise me. This makes it really hard to take any pre-game bets so I will be going in with an open mind trying to find some value in-game.

Westerlo vs Charleroi
Westerlo is a very unreliable team mixing good performances like the one last week against a poor Antwerp (0-2 win) with a total off day against Stvv (0-4 loss) the week before. So it's impossible for me to trust them. Charleroi had a really good streak when the new coach was assigned but now have lost 3 in a row. Last week at home, they lost 2-3 against Gent in a match that really could have gone both ways and where they had a good reaction after falling 0-1 behind. In the cup, they lost to Union with a 4-1 score which got deeper in the lasy 5 minutes as they took a red card so it wasn't as bad as the scoreline suggested. The week before, the coach screwed up by putting up a B-Squad at home against Cercle Brugge with an eye on the cup match which started this losing streak. So recent results show much worse than their actual quality of play while at the same time it dd shift their momentum. They are 8th in the standings and still in contention for playoff 1 especially if they win today but not safe from a playdown spot if they lose today. So a draw would not be the end of the world as it also breaks their losing streak. Westerlo at 3 points above a playdown spot needs to look down and a point also would not be bad. Overall despite the bad recent results, I still see Charleroi as the team with a bit more quality and stability. So I was willing to take them as the underdog earlier this week.

Looks like you completely stopped writing about Splinterlands...
Well, the thing is that I'm always pretty straight up when it comes down to my Splinterlands content, and I can't keep hammering on the same things over and over again. I think the devs just continue to keep making the same mistakes time after time again, and the "game" has become nothing more than just a way to transfer money from the whales their pocked toward the devs their salaries. Right now, the only thing I do is let my bot run, submit the occasional brawl battle, sell the reward cards that I'm earning, stake the SPS that I'm earning, and stay a bit entertained by watching some of @aftersound his YouTube content.
There are also the disgusting bully downvotes from narcissist azircon which really dropped my love for Hive, and make me stick to content that I want to make the most as it helps me to do well in my core business.
Makes sense, though I don't understand the issue with Azircon as I know him as a good guy...
Price of Escalation packs in SPS is under $2 and I am watching that for an opportunity to snipe a bunch of goodies with less than two days left... But not sure how it will play out. The top prizes are already whale war and out of my reach...
Well, it's classic narcissism behavior, being good to some to get a free pass to bully others.
It's quite clear how Splinterlands is playing out for those who buy assets (especially from sales), no new players are coming in (why would they?) to keep prices from falling further, and the money that comes in just goes to dev salaries while DEC is constantly being recirculated into the system making the entire flywheel just a myth. Something fundamentally needs to change, but for that to happen, the devs their paychecks need to be at risk which only happens when the few whales that are left give up leaving the entire game dead in the water.
I might be a bit too bearish though :)
