Weekend Run - 10km (63km total for the week!)
@dannewton just finished a 10.51km run, that lasted for 60 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 804.0 calories.
Description from Strava: It's been a busy old week (both at work and at home), and it is with relief that I can now enjoy the weekend
And when I say rest, I really do mean it. The last few weekends have all been hectic, and I'm long overdue a day to just sit and relax.
Today is that day, except I did need need to sneak my final run of the week in at some point today. I would have aimed to tick this off with parkrun at 9am this morning... but with 'rest' in mind, I took a lay-in instead.
When I eventually stirred at 10am, I opened the curtains and saw that it was dry, but when I checked the weather forecast for today:
ah... rain all day, plus the risk of heavy rain showers in the afternoon... guess I'd better head out now then!
For todays run I headed out for a run along the bypass. All my other runs this week have been while commuting to work and back, and so I've had to carry my work clothes back and forth in a small running backpack. It was a nice change today to not have to carry a backpack, and it definitely made the run easier without that weight!
Without that weight, I also decided it was an opportunity to change up the pace... the runs to and from work are at an easy pace, so today I pushed it a little quicker :-)
And I'm glad I did in the end, as no sooner than I had arrived back home, the heavens opened and it absolutely chucked it down
Phew!
In other news, I mentioned in my previous post That I was getting a little bored of running the same route to work and back, and so wanted to try to change it up.

On Friday afternoon, I managed to do this, and so instead of heading down the high street, I headed down a different road which took me to a nice little trail which runs along the top of South Common
(below picture was taken on a different day, but shows what it looks like)
I was surprised to discover that this alternative route was almost the same distance as my other route, so will definetly be adding this one into the options for runs to/from work
And for one final bit of good news, I've been in my new job for 5 weeks (and have been enjoying it immensely by the way). I've been running to and from work 4 days a week, for 3 full weeks now, and I can see there has been progression in my running times/pace
graph showing the times of running to work in the morning
graph showing the times of running home from work in the afternoon
I know its subtle, but both graphs show a trend of improving my pace (i.e. that I'm slowly getting quicker). I was hopeful that with the consistency of training, that I would see an improvement in times, but I am surprised to see the improvement so soon!
So, a busy week of working, and some good news in my running, means its been a productive week overall... and that I'm due some much needed rest!
For the rest of today I'm gonna chill and take it easy, and then tomorrow I have a couple of chorse to do, but I'll be resting as much as I can. And then I can start a new week on Monday, fully rested and ready for what the new week will bring

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

It's always good to see some improvement. It's been wet here too, but parkrun was dry. I've just been dodging the rain whilst trying to do some gardening. Enjoy the weekend!
