Description from Strava: Bleurgh!

Today was hard work. Especially when compared to last week. I woke up grumpy and tired, and with the threat of heavy rain I really couldn't be bothered to head out today.

But I knew I'd be even more grumpy if I didn't get it done today!

Todays run was scheduled to be 25km... and I didnt fancy that. Instead I thought, what about just completing 10km... thats about an hours worth of running... that will do. The rain is forecast for later on, so if I leave now, there is more chance of completing it in the dry.

With monumental effort, I dragged myself of the sofa, put my shoes on and headed out. I suspect the reason for the tired grumpiness is the lack sleep recently. I think in the past week 5 of the 7 nights I've not managed more than 4 hours. That just isn't good enough... the body need rest, and I keep staying up too late considering I often have to be up at 6am

I really need to work on that!

After getting outside and moving for 20 minutes, I started to feel a little bit better, a little be more 'alive'. The fresh air always helps! Exercise helps too, and as I was feeling more energetic, I started to think about doing the 'long run' I had planned today for 25km. Still wasn't sure about that but I knew I 'needed' to run 22km to reach the 50km target set for the week.

So I turned of the bypass and headed back down the path alongside the river as I've done in previous weeks. I kept going until I hit 11km, and then tuned and headed for home in a much better frame of mind. It turned out to a decent run in the end, and I'm glad I forced myself to complete it. I'm also glad I managed to finish it before the rain hit. I'm currently say here eating my lunch (chicken burgers if you're curious) and the rain is lashing down!

I hope it stops soon as it is the 'Hoen Tour' event in pokemongo this weekend, and I was hoping to go for a walk for a couple of hours to look for shinies and also do some of the new Primal raid things

I know its only a kids game, but it reminds me of when I played it when I was younger, plus I also enjoy the walking around, its generally quite a relaxing experience... in fact I think I can see some clear skies in the distance, better start getting ready!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

The weather has been mixed here, but not too much rain. It mostly held off as I marshalled at parkrun. I'll get out for a run tomorrow.

You do need to get more sleep.

I got a few extra Pokémon raids in today, during the event. A mega energy legendary would be pretty cool.

Lol, It was hard going tying to get those Primal raids, so many glitches, or people leaving at the last minute. I managed to get the last couple on sunday afternoon, so I've managed to get them, but its been such a miserable event that I've uninstalled the app of my phone to force myself to take a break...

Its been such a grind recently, and not an enjoyable one at that. I'll probably return in a few weeks, or not... we'll see!

Thank you! Its a little trick to get outside and get it done.

22km looks hard, but I'll tell myself I'll just do 20 minutes, then after that I get into a groove and get the rest of it done :-)
