Share Your Battle, Weekly Challenge, Conjuring up some Pizza!


This next installment of the Share Your Battle weekly challenges that I put on has a little something extra, the lore behind the monster of the week, the Venari Spellsmith! It just seems like they are hungry for some pizza!

Coming at you with a neutral monster, so it can fit into almost any lineup! Anyway, the card at hand!

The Vanari Spellsmith is a nice card that can do some damage, at 4 mana that helps, 3 health and 2 speed, it can hold it’s own, the ability is nice on the monster with Dispel, so it can clear all positive status effects on that enemy.

There are those who may think the Realm of Silence is a place of deep dark caverns. That could not be further from the truth. It is a region like any other in the Splinterlands that is full of homes, cities, and cultures. There are even universities that specialize in the study of magic, music, and geography. One such underground species that excels in academia are the Venari.

They created the Institute of Application that acts as a center of study for spells and tinkering. Those who wish to become fluent in spellcasting train to become Spellsmiths: masters of creating and using spells. It is through this knowledge they research and experiment with magic in order to unlock new ways to harness mana and the elemental forces.

A Venari Spellsmith is so dedicated to the art of spellcasting that magic itself became a part of them. While they themselves can manipulate magic to damage foes, magic burns through their veins. Upon death the radiating Mana explodes from their bodies, harming everyone around the Venari.

The ruleset on this one included 29 mana, Fire, Earth, and Death Only
Heavy Hitters: All Monsters have the Knock Out Ability
Even Stevens: Only Monsters with even Mana Costs may be used in battles
An interesting rule set, limits what monsters you have and in silver, heavy hitters does not come into play as much.

This battle is coming through under the Modern Ranked battles, Silver, some eSports love with this one.

First up, the Summoner:

Since I only had 3 splinters to choose from I decided to go with Water, Kelya is awesome with how she provides extra speed which is nice, it can help me go faster than either Fire or Death, plus the extra armor allows me some more survivability from melee and ranged attacks.

The front line was the Djinn Oshannus

Many times when I run water I run Oshannus up front, his 5 speed is nice, but the 11 hit points along with the 1 armor, helps that survivability, but the two abilities, void, which reduces magic damage, and phase, where magic attacks can miss him, become huge in having him live it out. Also, if they are running a shield, usually with fire, and then death with thorns, I have it covered.

The fiend is a great card, mostly because it slips into any lineup, especially with a low mana setup, at 0 mana it can help the other cards stay alive that much longer.

Next up, the Deeplurker

This is one of the strongest common cards in the Chaos Legion set, the opportunity strike just takes down the opponents very quickly, especially with that three damage every strike, this is what causes me to win.

Next up is another card that is decent:

The Magi is a strong card at 5 health, 2 magic and 2 speed, paired with Kelya, he can do some damage, I put him in the lineup, thinking if my opponent goes fire, magic damage is great to get around the shield, if they go death, it will help against the thorns. A great damage dealer.

Bringing up the rear is the Spellsmith, helping out with the damage of 1, but also protecting that backline from a couple of strikes. I also thought the dispel would be nice in case they add speed or something along those lines.

Did my strategy work, I won, I was not expecting too when I saw the lineup of the enemy. I didn’t think I would do a lot of damage, the Spellsmith did not do much in this fight, but the lineup won, mostly because of that opportunity attack and holding off their strikes. I think this was more of my enemy not choosing a good lineup versus my own choosing, they just did not have enough damage coming my way and the void negated a good amount of damage from Dr. Blight.

The Spellsmith is a decent card, not super strong, but not bad, at level 4 it has amplify which can help a lot in the higher tiers of play, overall, not a bad addition to the collection.
