Challenging fears. My Actifit Report Card: January 14 2026

One of the things I have always refused to do is traditional sit-ups, because they caused me a lot of discomfort in my neck and back, which was the perfect excuse to avoid them.

But I am currently at a stage where I am trying to step outside my comfort zone and, despite the discomfort, make the necessary changes to break bad habits and overcome the excuses that are holding me back.

And when I talk about this, I'm not just referring to the emotional or work aspects, but also to diet and exercise. What started as just moving around at work now has new nuances, as my youngest son and I are dedicating an hour to outdoor activities.

Since it's summer, we wait until the sun's rays are not so harsh to go outside. First, we play two games of chess, with the goal of not only killing the king, but also taking out all of the enemy's pieces. Then we go to the playground equipment, the swings, and finish with two laps around the entire grounds.

But today I set myself a challenge: three sets of ten sit-ups, and the truth is that my back and neck didn't hurt. I took one-minute breaks between each set, and then we went to the other machines.

Now, let's go for more sets and more repetitions!

Desafiando los miedos

Una de las cosas que yo siempre me he negado de hacer son los abdominales tradicionales, pues el malestar en mi cuello y espalda era mucho y por eso, era la excusa perfecta para evitarlos.

Pero justo estoy en una etapa en la que busco salir de mis zonas de confort, y lograr en esa incomodidad, los cambios necesarios para salir de malos hábitos y las excusas que no me permiten avanzar.

Y cuando hablo de esto, no es solo en el aspecto emocional o laboral, sino también en la alimentación y el ejercicio. Lo que empezó como solo moverme en el trabajo, ya tiene nuevos matices, pues junto con mi hijo menor, estamos dedicando una hora de actividades al aire libre.

Como estamos en verano, esperamos a que los rayos del sol no sean tan inclementes para salir, primero jugamos dos partidas de ajedrez, con la modalidad de no solo matar al Rey, sino acabar con todas las piezas del enemigo, luego vamos a las máquinas, al columpio y terminamos con dos vueltas en todo el recinto.

Pero hoy me propuse un reto: 3 series de 10 abdominales, y la verdad es que no me dolió la espalda ni el cuello. Hice pausas de 1 minuto entre cada serie, y luego nos fuimos a las otras máquinas.

Ahora, vamos por más tiempos y más repeticiones!
