The Most Underwhelming UCL Final I've Watched

Last night was the UEFA Champions League Final between PSG and Inter Milan. What a bummer..

I can't believe I waited weeks and anticipated hard just for this sort of performance. 31st May have been ringing in my head since 7th May. 24 days of waiting and building up to this 🤦🏾‍♂️.

The match ended with PSG winning 5 goals to nothing from Inter Milan, and that is the big disappointment. It was so one sided and PSG manhandled Inter Milan too clearly. Even if you'd be happy for the winning team, that's not what you'll want to see from a final.

In a final you want to see a tough battle, you want to see war! You want to see them guys kinda evenly matched, fighting it out to your entertainment. But alas.

The conspiracy theorist in me was also strongly stirred. And I smelt something fishy in every move. It seemed like a fixed match where it was arranged that Inter Milan shouldn't play so well but let PSG have it easy. Because Inter were not themselves at all, they seemed like a different team entirely and they played too badly it was sad.

Also, in the first half PSG took the kick-off, and immediately the whistle was blown they shot the ball to the throw-in. That was the first thing that stirred the conspiracy theorist in me, because who the hell shoots a kickoff to the throw-in? In a final!!? Instead of keeping possession and building up early.

And there is a lot of money to be won if you placed a bet that there would be a throw-in in the first minute of the match, so I immediately felt like a bet was placed for that and that was why they did it.

But of course they could have done it for other tactical reasons that I can never know, yet I can't stop smelling this fish.

From that first minute it seemed like this throw-in was arranged and I started wondering what else might be arranged, only for a lackluster performance from Inter Milan to hit me upside the head. And a crazy PSG dominance ensue.

Of course I'm only speculating and the entire conspiracy theory should probably be out of the way in exchange for giving PSG their props, but the fact remains that was such an underwhelming final and it was saddening.

It is a pity to watch that kind of match for the final. Imagine 5 0 to Nil without any goal from the intermillan. It is crazy.

It's just like when the final match happens after such a long time, the hope is that both the teams will perform very well and the viewers will get an interesting match, but when it happens that the match becomes one-sided, be it cricket or football or anything else, it's not fun at all.

I didn't expect to see such performance from Inter Milan compared to when they played Barcelona in the semis. Good one for PSG and what a way to win your first UCL trophy.

I thought PSG was the clear favorite to win the final, but from that, to the thrashing and the footballing beating Inzaghi's team suffered, I honestly didn't expect that. PSG has always played well this season.

Initially, they struggled with balance in midfield and a lack of finishing up front, but they are rightfully the best in Europe this year.
