12.5 km - run full of reflections
Today I decided to take a longer break during my work in order to reflect on last monday. Going for a low intensity run (up to low zone 2) can provide a great vehicle for reflection - and so was my run today!
I have been on a waiting list to start an intensive program for roughly a year. The prospect was to have another 32 weeks before I could start the program. This was long and I wanted it to be sooner ... well last Monday I got the news that they decided to move me higher up the waiting list and I can start in less than a month. Sounds perfect right?
Well, foremost I am very happy to be able to start as soon as possible. Next to that I felt quite some struggles with regards to work. The prospect of 32 weeks (before starting) would give me ample time to make arrangements finalizing or properly handing over projects to feel comfortably in control starting the program.
Starting next month, when being commited to two large projects is scary and also unrealistic to combine without making some adjustments. My run today allowed me to put things into perspective and think through my options as next steps. I decided to fully commit to the program - so we will have to discuss at work what is possible to do and for what they will have to find an alternative.
My run today!
With 10 weeks before my next marathon I noticed I am more than ready today. Especially as this November run I will focus on being a pacer and help my friend reach his time goal. I am considering however to solo run another marathon in October as a way to stay motivated to build beyond that run (for example I will need to build some more muscles for the Jungfrau 2026 marathon).
My run today was 11km in zone 2 (low heartbeat, decent pace +/- 5.05 min / km) and 1 km fast (regardless of the heartbeat but to get some anaerobe benefits)
I decided to go for a route that combined paved and unpaved routes and basicly meditated for the first 11 km. The weather was pretty nice, a bit stuffy weather but that was oke especially as there was no intense sun.
Overall, it felt like a hour well spend and I feel refreshed after the run!
Thank you for reading!
Happy running!
Congrats on being moved up to start in less than a month! Is it an MBA or something else?
I'm sure your work will be able to figure something out with your other project so that you can fully focus on the intensive program. Good luck!
Hey! Tnx for the reply!
I wish it was MBA haha, but it is a medical program. Scary, but can’t wait to get started!
That's great, good luck!
I can only dream with that pace in 12km haha, I really admire you. Thanks for sharing your running with us.💪🏻
