If you are a student, and you have an exam tomorrow, you are serious about your studies, and you feel a little pressure. If you work in a company, and you have a lot of things to do in a limited time, sometimes you feel the stress. You are responsible for everything, and you have to answer in case anything goes wrong.

If you are an entrepreneur, you are responsible for whatever happens. If your company does not get something or anything goes wrong, it is your fault. You are in charge; you cannot blame anyone. We are familiar with this pressure.

Today we are talking about pressure and stress because you feel this in a situation when you fight for self defense. If you face any situation like this or have some experience dealing with a situation where you are being attacked, I am sure you know the feeling.

When you learn martial arts and train with your partner, you do not feel that pressure. Yes, your training partner attacks you, punch and kick you, strike with a stick or knife, but the intention is to learn how to defend yourself. He or she does not have any intention to hurt you. Similarly, when you spar with your partner, you do not want to hurt him or her.

If you face a situation where someone attacks you, he intends to hurt you. You will feel the pressure and stress. You might get freeze for the time being. Sometimes things happen that are unexpected. You might be shocked.

We have feelings and emotions. And we feel that in a fight. To make your move, you have to shift your mindset from this to defensive mode. If you just stand still or close your hands, this is not going to help you. You have to stop the attacker, defend his strike, and counter-attack.
