It has been a wet week, but it was not raining this morning. I did Wordle in bed before I got up to face another run. After a quick drink I headed out to feed the chicken and then set off.
I want to work on my fitness this year, so that means more runs focused on intervals and general speed work. My standard for that is some sprints up the nearest hill on the way up to Fairfield. I have done that many times, so I can track my progress by seeing how quickly I can get up that 300m stretch that rises about 6m. I usually do it five times with gentle jogs back down.
It was not too bad today. As I started the third one of my running buddies was just coming up and I managed to stay ahead of him all the way up even though I know he can be quicker than me over any longer distance. It is not about competing and I am sure he knew I was doing a workout.
I was listening to another episode of Rob Reiner's podcast about the JFK assassination. It is interesting stuff. Not many of those around that event will still be alive, but it still resonates.

Hill repeats are never fun, but they really do show progress over time.
It is tempting to just 'go for a run', but you have to push your body to see progress and I think mine needs to learn to run faster, even if just for a short time. The hill adds to the challenge.
Nice job on your run. I took a spill on a slippery floor at work yesterday and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to work out this morning, but I managed. I'm still a bit sore, but movement seems functional.
Sorry to hear that. Hope it's not too bad. Thankfully it's not really slippery where I run. I don't like to miss out on my runs.
It could have been a lot worse. My head came a couple centimeters from getting cracked open by the corner of some cement blocks.
