steevc just finished a 4.88km run, that lasted for 30 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 407.0 calories.

Description from Strava:

This is my first real run in about a month. Since I had COVID I have been feeling blocked up, but my breathing is not too bad and I have not got out of breath on brisk walks, so I decided to try a gentle run. My Garmin does not seem to have tracked the router, but I went to the top of West Drive and back. The pace was nothing special, but then I was just seeing what I could do. I will try a jog at parkrun on Saturday.

I noticed the hut up the drive had been painted a nice colour. I think it is something to do with gas supplies. Breakfast after my run with cereal with three types of berry from the garden.

Podcast listening was No Guitar Is Safe featuring the guy who wrote Eye of the Tiger and Guardian Science Weekly about the James Webb telescope.

The UK has been getting some pretty hot weather lately and next week could be even warmer at over 30C. It was not too bad out this morning. I have been swimming a bit in our pool lately as a bit of a workout. I may well get in later today.

I hope everyone is coping with the heat.

Run free!

No pressure! :)

We each have to do what works for us. I felt okay when I was running, but need to build up the speed and endurance again. A whole month off makes a big difference. Wish you all the best.

Sorry to hear that you had Covid Steve, but glad that you are on the other side of it now.

You have a POOL??!!! That could be handy in the next few days. Latest BBC forecast for SW London is saying 39 degrees on Tuesday. :(

I've not been that sick in a while, but I'm recovering and I missed running.

The pool is not huge and unheated, but I can swim a bit in it. We are likely to use it in the next few days. These high temperatures will be tough for lots of people.

Exercise is very addictive, and it's no wonder you missed doing what you enjoy. That pool will not require any heating. I am dreading Monday and Tuesday...

Fantastic to hear you back at it!

I love this time of year in the UK - hmmm three types - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries?!?

It was nice to get out there. I need to check on what's been happening in the neighbourhood.

Actually it was blackcurrants, red gooseberries and jostaberries. Raspberries and blackberries should be ready soon. I think the strawberries are done for this year.

Nice job on your run. I am sorry that you have been having to deal with Covid. That really sucks. Any idea what variant you got? They say this new one is pretty nasty even if you are vaccinated. I've been pretty horrible with my workouts lately too. Getting home so late from the concert on Sunday night didn't help to much for my chances of doing a Monday morning workout! The concert was worth it though.

Whatever variant I got felt like flu, but didn't affect my senses of taste and smell.I just did the home tests.

Good to hear you enjoyed the concert. Of course those have risks with COVID and some people just won't to go to them, especially if indoors. People generally seem less worried, but cases are not really dropping.

Stay well.

My wife and I were definitely a bit unsettled seeing the number of people that were at the concert. We are more aware of that kind of thing now than we were in the past.

Hello Steevc

Nice work out man t burn 407 cal. Running is a good exercise for people who do not go to ground. When I was in school ,I used to spent maximum time of a day by playing, health was perfect, no pain in body, cloud hold long breath but now one minute-run is hard for me.

Kudos on getting back out on the trail. The triple-digit heat in Texas has stopped my evening walks. I miss them, but it's actually dangerous to be out in such hot weather. So, I continue with my biphasic sleep experiment and am keeping an eye for the occasional cooler day to get some steps in.

Could get record temperatures here next week. We have no a/c, so will have try and stay cool.

No A/C? Oh dear. Do take care.

I don't think the entire state would be livable in the summertime without air condition. I know folks lived here before then back in the day, but thank goodness we live in modern times with modern comforts.

Few homes here have a/c, but it's more common in offices. It just didn't get hot enough to justify it most years, but that could change and more a/c means more energy consumption which could just accelerate the change. Adapting to a warmer world will be hard.

True. Not even moving to traditionally cooler climates is any guarantee of milder weather.
