Morning Run: Up and down, repeat

steevc just finished a 5.72km run, that lasted for 35 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 448.0 calories.

Description from Strava: 'teamuk

As part of my quest to find more speed I will try to do a weekly intervals run and my usual one is some 'sprints' up the nearest hill. It is not a huge climb, but it involves some extra effort compared to running on the flat and I get a slightly easier recovery running back down.

I did five lots of about 300m. I hope to do that at under 5min/km and I mostly achieved that today. The last couple were hard, so I struggled a bit and had some short walks on the recovery phases.

Then it was back home for breakfast. I was at the pub for a music session last night where I had a couple of pints whilst enjoying the tunes and got home a bit late. The landlord was saying that local celebrity James Bay used to perform where we were sitting before he hit the big time. Kim Wilde has visited the pub too. She lives nearby, but I have never met her.

Run free and rock on!

It's good to mix it up with intervals and sprints… something I must remember when I'm back into it. I'm currently reading a book by a guy who ran 50 marathons in 50 consecutive days in 50 US states!

It's amazing what people can achieve. I need a break after a couple of days with short runs. I am trying to mix up my runs a bit, but there's no special plan behind it. Just taking bits that I have read as advice varies a lot.

Do you mean 5'/km average for the 300m sprints uphill? Or 5'/km average overall?
And these shoes... Allbirds is the brand? I've never seen sportshoes like this...?.... !PIZZA

I do around 5 min/km on the sprints. Overall it was more like 6 average as I was going slow the rest of the time.

Allbirds make more sustainable shoes. Not cheap, but Hive pays for them.

Thanks for the !BEER and cheers to you too!
The point that Hive is going to pay for anything for me is still far away for me I guess...I'm now on hive for 10 months, trying to learn from everyone (so all tips are welcome!) but I don't have the feeling that it even would pay for the time I invest in it, leave alone that I'd "gain" something with it.... Maybe you see something i'm doing substantially wrong? In that case, please let me know!

It's taken me six years to get to this level with a lot of engagement and going to events. That's fun for me and it's nice that it pays me something too. It is paying for my trip to Hivefest. Other people make much more, but it depends on who you know and what you post. I never expected to do this well.

I see you comment a lot and that's good. You need to build relationships with people over common interests. Of course the big accounts are likely to be busy. I've tried to build communities around things I like and help others white I can. I think that is appreciated. It all takes time and you have to decide what works for you.

Waw six years is a lot, but a few days ago I saw what you're able to give (value) in a comment, and I was surprised... How about the tip tokens? I don't see you using them a lot? Thanks for your answer. I've been starting 2 communities as well, but I really can't find enough time to write articles and probably that's the main reason they ddin't succeed. I'm planning to pick them up anyway,so we'll see for the future... !CTP !PIZZA

I give out a lot of !BEER and pizza. It is not worth much, but it can help people build up enough to give it out themselves eventually. Communities take work to get people participating. I just don't see much point in those where people just fish for votes. I want to see posts I actually enjoy around my interests.

Does this mean that in your opinion the person who starts the community needs to post (most of) the articles?
My idea was more to create a platform for people with the same interest and that these people would write and post there of course. Actually what is happening in the #Beer Community. I tried, but it's even very difficult to get people posting something about sports... On the other hand, maybe the subject is not "sexy" or "exceptional" enough and / or doesn't attract people that like to write about it as well... !PIZZA !CTP

It shouldn't be down to one person, but you may need to get a few posts in there to get others interested. You can't force them to post. You can always share relevant posts to the community. Building any community takes time and effort, but it can be worth it.

From a quick look on their website (thanks for the link) I learn that the shoes aren't much more expensive as what I'm paying for most of my running shoes already - even though I try to buy in outlet or with other big discounts... !CTP !PIZZA

They are similar price to other premium shoes, but may not be considered as good technically by some. They are okay for my level

Oh, one more thing, not meant bad or mean or so, but 5'/km cannot be called a sprint, even if it were uphill... Especially if you're average is 6'/km, yoursprint should be much faster. To get a better rhythm you might try to do shorter sprints (for 300m uphill sprints I'd be on the top of my volume training - and not running at a 6'/km average) and also do some sprints DOWNhill. It sounds strange, but like this your legs get used to make a quicker cadence. For a lot of sprinters it's part of their training routine. !LUV

Well it's how fast my legs go :) I can't maintain much quicker speed on the flat anyway. I tend to call it a 'sprint' as it's a gentle jog for some. I may look more into training regimes.
