steevc just finished a 5.14km run, that lasted for 29 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 363.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
My legs are not too bad after my 10k on Sunday. I wanted to get out to keep them working. I sort of figured out a route, but ended up not sticking to it. It was raining a little as I went out and there were a few showers, but not too bad really. I also forgot my arm strap and so had to hold my phone in my hand. That is really not ideal.

This was all on footpaths. Some on residential streets and some on cycle paths alongside the busy roads. I just improvised it, but it worked out nicely as a 5k. I turned around at one point when I realised I was going back the way I just came when I was looking for a road parallel to the High Street. I did not find that one and ended up tramping some of the same streets with some aborted turnings that lead to dead ends.

It was mostly fairly flat with some gentle climbs to make me work a little harder. I cross the railway a few times.

As I was showering afterwards the rain was hammering on the roof, so I may have missed the worst of it.

I am about to do HiveChat on Twitter. This is a weekly event where someone posts questions for others to answer about Hive. Please check it out. This is my third time setting the questions.

Run free!

I've done that a few times, where I run off done a street to realise I just wasted my time and need to loop back. 🙃

It's a form of exploring. Some streets don't make it obvious there's no way through. I just needed to do the distance rather than a particular route anyway.

Exactly, and I find I often have seconds to make a decision without slowing down. Sometimes it's a dead end. But as you say, it all counts towards the distance.

BTW, went on my first parkrun, partly down to your inspiration. Thanks to your posts.

I hope you enjoyed the parkrun. I really need to volunteer again soon.

I did. I managed 27:20 which I was happy with as a pace. It was never really a race for me. Just fun taking part. 240 runners.

Will do it again.

Solid run, mate. What kind of running shoes do you use?

In this case it was my old Mizuno shoes, but I have several others. I think it's important to have decent running shoes as they protect your body from injury.

That is exactly why I asked you. There are a lot of reviews online but it doesn't get more genuine than someone who actually runs a lot. I've heard mizuno and hoka are among the best for long runs.

Are you calling me old?! Yeah, I know I am. It does seem I inspire a few folk to be more active, so that has to be a good thing.

We have been getting a lot of rain too. It is unfortunate because I have a lot of stuff I need to get done outside. Now that the temps have finally started to drop. We might actually have to turn our heat on tonight. Nice job on your run. I am glad you didn't get too wet!

I'm now only 1kg away from my target weight after which I'm going to start dabbling in running myself. I don't think I could ever be as consistent as you, but every little helps I suppose.

I could probably lose a couple kilos and that might make me quicker. I just like food too much.
