steevc just finished a 5.5km run, that lasted for 32 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 378.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
I have been thinking I should review some of my running gear as long term experience is what matters.

Firstly, the run itself. This was my usual intervals run up the hill on West Drive. I was not feeling that great this morning. I was at the pub music session last night, but only had one beer and did not stay late. I still did not sleep so well. I always say that getting out the door for a run is the hardest part, but I felt better once I was out.

It is very autumnal, but dry and not too cold. Lots of fallen leaves of course. I did my five runs up the hill and they were pretty good really. Not so long ago I was happy if I could get them all under 5min/km, but I did that easily today and was way under for the last one that was not far off my best time for that segment. That made me feel better.

I bought my On Cloudflow shoes a couple of years back from a little running shop in Hitchin. I was not really aware of the brand, but they seemed good when I tested them on the treadmill. They are quite light and the soles are quite radical. The uppers are not very padded and they feel quite firm underfoot, but I have got used to that. Other shoes I have had maybe isolate you a bit from the road. I cannot say if they make me much quicker, but I do not think they hold me back.

I had concerns that the thin layers of thread would wear out quickly, but they are still pretty good really. The uppers have lasted well too with just a little wear at the back where you heel goes in. They do not look like shoes that have done 1000km. They were the most expensive shoes I had bought at the time, but it seems the quality is up there.

There are a few minor niggles. The laces are very thin and really long. I ended up making a loop to shorten them as there was too much flapping around. Thicker ones can be easier to tie, but they have not come undone for me when running. The uppers are not at all waterproof and have holes, so they are not great for running in the wet. As you would expect the soles are stone magnets. I sometimes have to stop and pick them out. That is not such a problem if there is no gravel where you run.

Overall I would recommend trying these presuming you will use them on tarmac. The lack of weight at least makes you feel quicker and the durability makes them better value than you might think at first.

Run free.

Nice job on your run. Those shoes do look pretty beefy in terms of the tread on the bottom. My wife and I skipped our workout today. We decided that we are going to do yardwork tonight instead. We have some leaves and plants we need to get taken care of before the snow starts to come and they stop picking up yard waste along the side of the road.

I have garden maintenance to do too. That can be a workout in itself. I am just trying to get in 4 runs per week and it seems to be paying off in terms of performance.

We have a garden waste collection every fortnight, but that will stop for the winter soon. I have already stuffed the bins for next week.

They pick ours up every week which is nice, but they stop at the beginning of December. I won't be shocked if we don't have snow on the ground by then.
