Description from Strava:
Yesterday I had my first ever visit to a physiotherapist. I got the train to Hitchin and had a wander before my appointment. There are lots of quirky shops there, but I did not buy anything. The physio is on the second (3rd for US folk) floor, so anyone with an injury has a challenge getting to him. He was a nice guy and we talked about the issues I was having with my hip. He was interested in my withered hand, but was not treating that. He checked out my mobility and prodded me a bit before declaring that my gluteal tendon was tight on that side. It seems my joints are fine. He massaged it a bit and gave me some exercises to do. I will be back in a fortnight to review it.

I am reassured that it is not a joint issue. He said I was okay to run, but should ease off a little as it gets better. So I was back at parkrun today. I think it was a little cooler than last week with the course all dried out now. We had a new run director this time. I just took it at a pace that felt reasonably comfortable. It was still hard work. A load of people came past me, but I made up a few places near the end as I tried to push on the last half lap. I came 42nd of 127, so just in the top third. I hope to get quicker again as I recover, but that will do for now.

I was feeling pretty warm by then. I was not sure if my other half was running as she left the house after me, so I walked back along the course to look for her. She was not there, so I came home after cutting through the camp site.

Since I got back I have been busy in the garden. We want to move the chickens to a new run, so I was preparing things for that. I will try to get more done today, but may have a swim later.

Enjoy your weekend.

Nice job on your run! I am glad that you were able to get your hip looked at. Hopefully it is nothing serious and they can easily treat it.

I went to visit my chiropractor on Thursday and was glad to. I've been working on a podcast project with a client in Europe which means I've been living by their time zone. But also have U.S. clients and projects that need me to be awake during "normal" working hours. So other than lack of sleep, what has happened is that I've been spending extended time at a computer. Needless to say my hips, back, shoulders, and neck have been letting me know what they think of this in loud and painful ways.

When I showed up for treatment after a month of absence in such poor shape, I received extended attention which included a go at a chair that pulls my upper half and my lower half away from one another. Sort of reminiscent of an old medieval torture device. At first it felt odd, but as the stretching continued it felt rather good. Interesting that what was once a torture device is now part of a wellness treatment.

I spend a lot of time sitting at a PC, so it has to have some effect on my body. I would hope my running counteracts that somewhat, but as I get older it may get harder. Still, the guy seemed to think I was generally in good shape.

Glad to see you are doing your job very well and continually. It was still very hot in Pakistan today but the weather had improved in the evening due to which many people had come to the park.
