The morning run after the night before

avatar

I was out at The Cricketers in Ickleford for our regular jam session last night. That was great fun with a nice variety of music. We even had The Burial Brothers on banjo, auto harp and harmonica.

Pub session

I did not have very much beer even though I was not driving, but it can still have an effect. I needed to be working today, but I wanted to do my regular run.

I was doing my usual workout of sprints up West Drive. Going uphill adds to the effort. I almost managed to keep them all under 5km/min, but was slightly slower on the first one. Considering I struggled to hit that target at not so long ago I am happy with this.

Sprints

I was worn out after that, so took it easy going home. I went around the back of the school and down an alley to reach the quiet roads near home. It is getting overgrown down there.

Selfie

I think it rained in the night, but it was dry for my run. Was not at all cold, so I was well warmed up by the end. As usual I cooled down as I had my breakfast before my shower.

Run

Run free and stay well.

Hello dear friend @steevc good day
It is good that you have preserved your strength for the morning walk.
It is evident that it has rained in much of the world, I have read many comments about them from different parts of the planet. beautiful shots

Sounds like it would be a fun night even without the beer. Good music and good people are all you need sometimes.

Alcohol not required

I don't need to drink to enjoy myself, but the pub has a good choice of beer and it was relatively cheap. I really wonder how they make much money as it was just the musicians in there.

I wonder about places like that as well sometimes. It's probably that the really busy days make up for the not so busy ones. Seasonal professions and stores and restaurants are often like that. They make so much in the spring and summer months that it carries them through the winter. Maybe the pub makes so much on Friday and Saturday that it carries them through the rest of the week.

This is a pub in a small village, so it's not like a busy town venue. I was amazed they had two ladies working behind the bar when one would be enough. Somehow it keeps going and it is a valuable local resource as a place for people to meet.

I see. Yeah it's hard to say then.
Maybe it's for money laundering...🤣

Kidding of course

Perhaps the owners are well off and it's just a little hobby?!?

The landlord is a quirky old bloke. He's been extending the pub himself for years. Still not finished the kitchen. I don't think he's rich.

Sounds like an interesting character for sure, I guess as long as he brings in enough to pay the bills that's all he needs!

Sounds like the kind of place I'd like to have a pint in myself!

Looks like you had a great night out. Banjo and autoharp must sound amazing. Well done on completion of the run. 🎶🎸👍

It makes a change from just guitars. I have to say the autoharp was a bit hard to hear next to the loud banjo. It's not a combination you hear very often.

Hope all is good with you.

I'm good thanks Steve. I'm taking a much needed rest.
I'm hoping to make it to the meetup 'up north' this month.
We'll see how it goes as I have commitments. 🤞👍

It should be fun, but I don't think I will get there. We'll have to have one down here.

I'm hoping to make it to the meetup but I've got some irl stuff that needs doing.
A local meetup may be more doable at some point?👍

I used to go pretty hard on Thursdays back in the day, so I totally understand what you are saying. I had so many unproductive Friday's! Sounds like you had a great time and nice job on your run!

I've never been a heavy drinker and I know better than to have too much during the week. I just find it goes straight through me anyway :) Was tasty though and only £3 for a pint, which is cheap.

Yeah, I hear you. I have slowed down quite a bit in my old age. That does seem cheap even though I don't really know the conversion rate!

Normally over £4, but he was selling off some extra beer he got for the jubilee celebrations. In places like London you would pay a lot more than that for beer. When I was a student it was about 60p :)

Cheeky. It was about 1984. You're not getting a vote for that!

That little shindig up top looks fun! I commend you on your commitment to running. Fun times and beer have steered me away from the treadmill on plenty of occasions! That's commitment!
