Morning Run: Christmas parkrun

I just finished a 5.006km running that lasted about 0hh:26mm:44ss !

I have not done parkrun on Christmas day before, but Bedford has an event. It was cold and raining a little when my daughter and I arrived, but the reason did not last. Lots of people turned up, many in fancy dress. The run director was in an inflatable unicorn costume.

The course is two and a half laps of Bedford Park. It is on paths, but there were lots of mushy leaves around. They now run in the opposite direction to the last time I did it. That means a long, gentle climb up to the cafe that you have to do three times. That felt hard work.

I managed a bit of a sprint at the end and was happy with my time. My daughter was a few minutes behind me. There were nearly 400 runners.

Since then I've had a lovely Christmas with the family. I hope others had a great day too.

Merry Christmas!

Your daughter looks so much like you.

My daughter was a few minutes behind me

This just reminded me of what my father said to me yesterday.

He bragged that he was going to win me in lawn tennis at 71 years

I do run more than her, but I'm sure she will be faster than me since day. I'll just keep on trying to enjoy it.

400 that's a huge turn out, how many do they usually get?. The special event parkrun are so much fun. Its just a shame Christmas and New Years Day both fall on Saturdays this year or we could have been able to squeezes two extra official runs for the year !LOL
