How To Deal With Non-Stop Punches

One of the strikes that everyone knows whether you learn martial arts or not, that is punch. A couple of days ago, I talk about The Sucker Punch - Can You Avoid That. If you have not read that post yet, you can read that now.

In a street fight, some people throw a single powerful punch to knock you out. Sometimes you might see someone keep punching and it feels like this is never going to end. When you practice martial art with your partner, he punches you, you block that punch and then you counter-attack. Nice and clean.

How about if someone keeps punching?

Someone throws a single punch, you block that, then the second punch, you also block that. After that, he continues punching you. How long are you going to defend the punch? Eventually, you will get hit.

You might face this kind of situation on the street. You see sometimes bad guys keep attacking. To defend nonstop punches, if you only block, that is not going to work. When we talk about self defense, sometimes attacking is the best defense based on the situation and you have to have that mindset when you face the situation like this.

When the opponent punches you continuously, you can step back, make a distance and counter-attack. Sometimes when you step back, your opponent steps forward and keeps punching. In this case, you cannot make the distance stepping backward. You can move back and to the side of your opponent, then you are out of the line of attack for the time being. You can counter-attack instantly.

How you react to this situation, it depends based on the situation and your opponent's movement. You can also try this. Instead of stepping backward, you can defend the punch, counter-attack and keep attacking. If the opponent gets too close to you, you are ready to do elbow strike, hammer fist, and knee charge.

Don't forget to kick

As soon as your opponent punches you, you can step back, then the punch will not hit you and at the same time, you can kick to his knee. If you are good at kicking, you will find it very useful dealing with someone who punches continuously.

If you spend time learning martial arts, you can figure out the situation, do something that you might have never done before and it can work. We can talk about what can be done in that situation. Since every situation is different, you have to decide based on your observation.

Hope you find it useful. Thank you so much for reading this. Please feel free to express your thoughts in the comments below. If you like martial arts and want to learn more about self defense, you can check out some of my recent posts.

@rezoanulvibes hello dear friend, I hope you are having a wonderful day.

My father used to say that the one who hits first hits twice and it is true, if you see that the fight is inevitable, hit first, as you say in the best defense.

I really appreciate your daily directions. Thank you
I wish you a prosperous day dear friend

Yes, I agree with what your father said. You see the guy keeps attacking and you are next. So don't wait until he hits you. You make the first move, and this is something that he might not expect. Then get out of there as soon as you can.

Yeah shelling up to block all the punches isnt good, you'll just get hit a ton more. personally I dont like to fight moving backwards.. but you forgot a good suggestion,..clinch! Muay Thai standup grappling, I can tie you up before you get more than a couple shots off then toss "sweep" you to the ground :) or i'll just keep you on your feet and feed you knees for days!

I did not say that in detail what you just mentioned here. If you grab him and sweep his leg, he might be on the ground in a blink of eyes. ;)

Thank you so much @agr8buzz for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate that!
