Hill repeats on Father’s day
Hi all! Welcome back to my running blog!
This morning started with the celebration of father’s day where my two daughters had made breakfast and all sort of handmade gifts - which was so lovely!
I have set my eyes on the Jungfrau marathon 2026. Which is basically a 1900m climb during the 42km race, with the climb being concentrated in the last 15 km. While I feel comfortable about the distance, I al well aware that I have loads of work to do with regards to the climb. The Netherlands is a pretty flat country (with 2 areas with some moderate hills) - my area is below sea level and can only exists due to the waterworks and dams that protect the land.
Therefore I am gradually adding more height meters in my training schedules - which is really challenging (and motivating) me to become better at this!
The run was basically alternating three variations of a climb. One of the climbs was a B3 grade technical route - which made me feel quite a beginner again (Fun!), the other route was more gradual- with the last route being somewhat in between.
This workout seems to become a core component of my schedule (one a week?) so I can really prepare myself for the Jungfrau!
Happy running <3
Damn that's heavy after 15k a hill to finish it off , keep up the hard work you gonna do great on race day 💪
Tnx! Yeah first 25km relatively flat. Then some increases but last 4km is crazy haha. Will be a crazy cool experience.
