What

I'm training for a 50K race around Mount St. Helens the first weekend of August. Nine weeks of training down, eight to go, I am officially past the half way mark 🎉🎉🎉 This was recovery week after two weeks of big mileage so nothing major to report. Recovery weeks always look like an easy week on paper, but the recovery is in place because of the hard work that came before and I'm typically fairly tired through most of the week.

🏃 Tuesday — Started the week off with a nice easy run. I was tired this morning and it felt more difficult than it should have so I was happy it was a recovery week and a bot shorter.

🧘‍♂️ Wednesday — A good morning stretch felt nice. Still a bit worn out from the previous week so it was nice to take it easy 😀

🏃 Thursday — Felt better than Tuesday, but still just an overall fatigue I can feel this week.

⛰️ Saturday — With Friday off the run started off as a nice pleasant easy run. As I progressed it started to feel more strenuous and as a match for the overall theme of the week I was happy it was shorter than previous weeks. Friday night a huge storm rolled through town and the trails were a mess of mud and downed branches which didn't allow me to get into a great flow.

☕ Sunday — My son and I braved the rain and went to see how high the river was after the weekend storms. It was mostly an easy walk with some jogging and a mid run stop at Starbucks.

A good representation of the week

This photo sums up my week well. Every run felt like a bit of a challenge with some hurdle that needed to be cleared.

On to Week Ten

Week ten is already here; time flies when you're having fun. After a recovery week and a good weekend of sleep I'm looking forward to hitting the ground hard again this week. I'm hoping the active recovery will help the hard workouts this week feel less strenuous than week nine felt. I'll keep a close eye on my perceived effort and energy levels to make sure I'm not over working, but I'm feeling confident that I'm on track.

I like those trails. I wish we had some scenery like that where I live.

It is fun, but the constant rain to keep it like that can get old 😀 Still waiting for actual summer to show, but yeah I have to enjoy what I have.
