ducks crossing

As with the bmx practice session yesterday this afternoon it was time for the first mtb practice after the break. Today I had one hour and a half for the run since the mtb exercise is half an hour longer.

Again, I decided on a flat, on asphalt run of around 10 kilometers. It was reasonably hot, 24 degrees with low humidity.

While I was passing by the nearby farm these ladies crossed the road right in front of my nose. They were quick and before I managed to pull out the phone they were already running across the grass and away from me.

To show you the variety of the surroundings, from the farm to the highway, I stopped at the bridge over the northbound motorway for some tunnel vision.

Ending the loop I managed to make it 10 K long at a reasonable pace 0f 5:51 while moving. Another small step in the preparation for the main event in five weeks' time.

I returned to the bike park in time to see the technique practice. Boys were training rollers with a manual at the last one. Manual is when you ride on your back wheel only without pedaling. The kids were quite good at it.

It was another fine afternoon. The run was fine too.

Nice workout buddy! Now let's talk about ducks. I remember when I was a kid there was a mother and her chicks walking across the road and my mother was driving the station wagon at the front of the line at a red light. When the light turned green the ducks were waddling in front of us on their way across the street to the river. The cars behind us did not know the ducks were there and they started honking. I remember my mom saying "what am i supposed to do? Plow them over?"

The honking stopped once the people saw that my mom was not an idiot and was actually just holding them up in order to not kill a birb family.

A nice story. Thanks for telling it to us. Yes, people are impatient while waiting for the red light to change.

Your mother did great .)

Nice run. Good thing to do whilst the kids are busy and looks like a nice place to do it.

Thanks. I tend to use the time between taxi jobs :)

We are lucky that all these semi-urban structures are close to where we live. Pump tracks, bike tracks, hiking/running/cycling paths, trails, gravel, asphalt, ... It's all 15 minutes drive away at the most if not reachable on feet.
