steevc just finished a 8.66km run, that lasted for 62 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 557.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
It has been a chilly week here with some places getting snow, but it has not reached us yet. I put on my hat and gloves for the run today, but my knees were on display. As I jogged up the road I found it was distinctly slippery in places. It seems to be the paths with new tarmac that are worst. Strava reckons it was -3C and feeling like -6C with the wind.

There was a good crowd there already, but some had gone to do the 'Santa Canter' 5k in Letchworth. I felt for the marshals who have to stand around. It makes a big difference if you are moving as you soon warm up. The ground was mostly frozen and the lakes had a fair bit of ice on them, but there were still people out fishing. The ducks seemed to be okay, but a seagull was standing on the ice and squawking.

I did not go too hard today. I felt my hip at times and I have pulled some muscle on the other side. These did not trouble me too much and I just tried to keep going. Some of the worst mud patches have been filled with chippings and that makes them quite bouncy. I found it better to run around those.

A lot of people seemed to come past me on the first half. There was a guy who runs with a dog who had to stop a few times, but he would pass me again. He actually has two dogs and swaps them over on each lap so they do not get too worn out.

On the last half lap I could sense some people behind me and they were getting close by the finishing straight. I just gave it what I had and managed to stay just ahead of them. That gave me a better time on that segment than other recent runs.

I came 28th of 73 in 28:02. Not a great time for me, but fairly typical of recent runs. I hope to improve over the winter. I was looking up some exercises that may help with my hip tendon, so I need to do those.

I walked home with one of the ladies and had a chat. parkrun is a social event and that makes it more fun. I shall be volunteering again some time this month.

Run free and keep warm. Give me a shout if you want to check out the Hive social blockchain where you can earn from your activities.

We like the smaller parkruns and meeting some of the locals. How do you go timing the run down to the start. I don't like getting there too early when cooling down too much or arriving too late and missing the run brief.

I aim to be there around 10 minutes before the start. I jog some of the way and walk the rest, so I'm ready to run

It's getting cold here in our country today and it's getting a bit difficult to go in the morning but still this routine should be continued by all of us.
